We have installed a CWGC headstone at Oldham (Greenacres) Cemetery for a previously non-commemorated #WWI casualty.

@irelandbattles CSM Reddy was one of the original members of the 1st City or Pals Bn of the Manchesters, rather than an Old Contempible of the Regulars.

@J_the_biscuit @johncopse @CWGC I guess the question is why one researcher has amendments addressed by CWGC and why another does not after two previous attempts for the same casualty? Rather than being paranoid I think there has been resourcing issues and the fact that you had the change accepted is positive
English

@J_the_biscuit @johncopse @CWGC I've checked my notes and found evidence for the Donnelly amendment was sent to CWGC in May 2021 and I subsequently sent five online amendments for 01/07/1916 - I think last year. I was warned of a delay in 2021 and this staff member was then made redundant. No update since.

@Taff_Gillingham @CStewart_CS @AlStewartOBE Hymns in the local Methodist Church made my Mum step back in time more lucid. Cherished moments, now memories.
English

@CStewart_CS @AlStewartOBE My Dad suffered with dementia for many years but we had tricks which helped, like asking him his name, date of birth & address every time I visited.
Despite having no long term memory he could still answer up until a few days before he died so we always kept a tiny part of him.🙂

English

Very difficult piece to read in places but so important to keep sharing and keep encouraging people to get checked if they think they might have dementia.
So proud of both of my parents and they way they’ve faced this head on.

@johncopse @tigwallace1 @CWGC No worries Neil. The absence of scrutiny for taxpayers who cover the vast majority of costs is a concept that has no resolution until Freedom of Information Act applies - unlikely.
English

@tigwallace1 @johncopse @CWGC Addenda panels are a simpler route for corrections, where there’s space. Otherwise a notation on the casualty record is simple & cheap. The panels inevitably have outstanding corrections, notably where a man’s burial has been found. New panels unnecessary.
English

@Ianlyall9 @johncopse @CWGC The integrity & accuracy of the database is fundamental from 1919 onward. Inscriptions don’t need to change, just a notification in the casualty entry online. What’s the point of people visiting the Menin Gate if the true records show a man died in France.
English

@johncopse @CWGC The main point is they were commemorated, its just makes it interesting when reaching a individual who's not buried or commemorated where they 'should be.
English

@Ianlyall9 @johncopse @CWGC This policy ignored attachments, which were common in Aug 1916 onwards. Disappointing that corrections are ignored & men are commemorated in the wrong country. Hey ho….
English

@johncopse @CWGC It is surprising, I was once told its because the Battalion was in that area when official notification of death was issued, so down as a casualty for that area, some logic I supose
English

@HemaJaradah @CWGC @dgcwgc Truly wonderful news, Ibrahim! and well done to CWGC for their part. Let's hope you can soon return safely to your home & duties and peace can be found for your people.
English

Grateful beyond words for the unwavering support from @CWGC. Their commitment to "People First" isn't just a motto; grate efforts were made to ensure our safety in Egypt. Our hearts still with Gaza and our people, hoping for an end to the conflict soon. 🙏 #PeopleFirst @dgcwgc

@Jacob_Rees_Mogg Sick rhetoric has run its course. Watch the election results tomorrow night, numb nuts. Why did anyone vote for this chap?
English

Perhaps we should start bussing illegal immigrants to the Irish border. Then the pious Irish government which thinks the UK is dangerous can see the full benefit of human rights laws and open borders.

‘Let me be clear, we owe Ireland and the EU nothing in terms of refugee returns!’ @Jacob_Rees_Mogg points to an influx of illegal migrants attempting to enter Ireland as proof the UK’s Rwanda bill is a successful deterrent. 🔒 Become a GB News Member: gbnews.com/support
