The @pmarca episode
Marc is a many-time founder, investor, co-creator of the web browser, co-founder of Netscape, the "a" in @a16z. In this very special conversation, we dig into why we’re living through one of the most unique times in history, and what comes next.
We discuss:
🔸 Why AI is arriving at the perfect moment to counter demographic collapse and declining productivity
🔸 How Marc is raising his 10yo kid to thrive in the AI future
🔸 The 3-way standoff that’s happening between PMs, designers, and engineers
🔸 What’s actually going to happen with AI and jobs (spoiler: he thinks the panic is “totally off base”)
🔸Why AI is "the philosopher’s stone" made real
🔸 Why you should still learn to code
🔸 His media diet: X and old books, nothing in between
Don't miss this one.

This Hollywood actor understands AI better than most VCs.
Ben Affleck, most famous for playing Batman, just dropped the most insane AI breakdown I’ve heard in years.
Most people think, "He's just another actor, why should I care?"
Well, think again.
He won a screenwriting Oscar at 25.
He’s a filmmaker, writer & producer who’s been in the creative industry for over 3 decades now.
Recently, he was on the Joe Rogan podcast & said what no tech CEO has the guts to say.
Here are the 2 takes that blew my mind:
1) AI is an "Average-Generator"
Affleck argued that AI, by nature, regresses to the mean.
LLMs predict the probable next word, which means they are literally built to produce average output.
To be a world-class creative, you need imperfections and outliers.
AI is inherently built to eliminate those.
2) The Valuation Trap
He called out the "AI will take all jobs" narrative for what it is:
A sales pitch to justify massive CapEx spend on data centers.
It’s not a prediction, it’s stock pumping.
And if you think this is just an actor talking, look who agrees with him:
Michael Burry (the Big Short guy)
The man who shorted the housing market & predicted the 2008 crash.
He called the arguments "on point."
When a creative legend & the man who bet against the global economy agree on something, you need to pay attention.
My honest take is that they are about 90% right.
The "exponential AI curve" everyone is hyped up, is now flattening.
The internet is flooding with AI slop, which means the training data itself is degrading.
But here is the catch:
Affleck says AI won't replace creative jobs. I somewhat disagree.
It will replace the average creatives.
The ones who just execute without thinking.
But for the top 1% who use AI as a superpower to think faster are untouchable.
So stop chasing 10 shiny new tools every week & instead focus on the fundamentals.
Learn to think originally.
In a world flooding with "average," being genuinely human is your biggest moat.
Do you agree that human creativity is here to stay!
