I don't watch much sport on the TV now. Years ago, I could name most of the players in the upper 2 footy divisions, I knew which F1 drivers drove for which teams, same with motorcyle racing, I followed the golf, tennis and rugby. But I gradually lost interest in all of it. I occasionally watch bits of the Summer and Winter Olympics but I honestly couldn't name a single member of the GB team in any of the various sports. I think I slowly became aware that most of the major sports are more about money than sport. It's all about deals, sponsorships and side hustles. And where are all the characters? We used to have some fantastically charismatic sports men and women but now they all appear to be as dull as ditch water. They almost seem terrified of actually presenting a personality in case someone is "offended". It's all so clinical and uninspiring. And now we have the proliferation of women commentating and "summarising" on mens sports. Whenever I accidentally view this happening I actually feel sorry for the blokes who follow those sports. Surely most of them don't want this. Or am I wrong?

We inherited an agreement where FIFA is providing $0 for transportation to the World Cup. And while NJ TRANSIT is stuck with a $48 million bill to safely get fans to and from games, FIFA is making $11 billion. I’m not going to stick New Jersey commuters with that tab for years to come. FIFA should pay for the rides. But if they don’t – I’m not going to let New Jersey get taken for one.
