I'll preface by saying this isn't a direct criticism of what Alex has made and it's moreso just the unlucky conversation starter. I wish we as devs would move away from naming apps with "Kit". It seems to come from Apple's use of the term but they use it for frameworks. It isn't used for the product resulting from said frameworks. The user doesn't really know what a kit is either so you may be wasting valuable SEO.

As people started downloading, we thought: hey, what if we do it again from scratch and address the pain points? And that we did. In 2021, the landscape has changed again, the world has different needs and we'll do the same. See you soon!

The initial project was never meant to be more than a side project. It started as a greenfield app and we hit many roadblocks as we learned about the weather industry. That stuff is not easy - especially if you want to get it right.

WeatherKit turns 5 today. Initially launched as Aerium, it feels surreal to experience the contrast between the first version and the next one.
