We strongly condemn the vile and transphobic remarks made by UFC fighter Josh Hokit targeting Michelle Obama. Speculating about a former First Lady’s gender, especially in such a crude and public manner at a White House event, is not “free speech”; it is dehumanizing hate speech designed to mock and degrade. No person, regardless of political affiliation, deserves to have their identity and humanity attacked for entertainment or political points. Such rhetoric fuels bigotry, endangers transgender and gender-nonconforming people, and has no place in civil discourse. We call on all leaders and platforms to unequivocally reject this kind of harmful behavior. Dignity is a human right. Full stop.
