And if you're panicking and they're panicking, understandable because Atlanta is now believing and losing G4 tonight would be freefall and everyone in the organization checking their retirement plans -- but they did lose two games by 1 point and were one last possession from being up 2-1 or 3-0. What they really need is players to play up to their basketball-reference pages.

An officials job is thankless and amazingly difficult, but that said, wouldn't be hard to find a hundred charges called this season with less room, more speed. (Also, I don't think this was where the game was won or lost -- OKC defense is tremendous and had something to do with Knicks shooting, turnovers and inability to take advantage of KAT near the rim).

By rule, a defensive player must allow a moving player that is receiving a pass, outside of the lower defensive box, an opportunity to avoid contact. The speed of the player will determine the amount of distance an opponent must allow. On this play, Brunson does not give Gilgeous-Alexander an opportunity to avoid contact after receiving a pass outside of the LDB and therefore Brunson is not in a legal guarding position. The referees will then judge if the contact affects the SQBR (Speed, Quickness, Balance, or Rhythm) of Gilgeous-Alexander. If it does, this would be a blocking foul and if it does not then a no call would be appropriate.

The Knicks are 2-1 against the Cavs, and Celtics. The Knicks have beaten the rockets, lakers, nuggets and spurs this year but the Knicks can’t compete with the nba top teams? Regarding Cade Cunningham, Mike Brown said NYK didn’t force him to the sideline/let him get to the middle of floor too often. One of Knicks defensive adjustments during pre-All Star winning streak: forcing ball to the sideline. Cunningham seemed to get anywhere he wanted tonight

The Pistons are the better team. They have the better coach. And this season they’ve had the best player.
Right now, the Knicks are closer in the standings to the 8-seeded Heat than they are the Pistons. Not great.

See a lot of attention on the trade stuff at the bottom of this column— which i still think is unlikely to happen. As noted, Knicks not openly shopping and anything outside of Giannis downgrades talent. Lots of other issues to fix without breaking up roster.
