My hot take is that awards ceremonies are basically celebrity roasts now and anyone sitting in the super elite front row tables should expect a mildly offensive joke at their expense. Also why is everyone calling it a slap, it was fully a punch.
@annabellisimo Probably I'm the millionth person to ask the same question. If not then I agree - seems like a bad precedent for people to go punching each other over a roast like that
@aotearoa_ben thanks Ben, kind offer. I'm waiting a couple of hours to check how close it is to the power line ... if safe then I have a reciprocating saw which might be enough - otherwise I'll let you know, thanks
@nz_walker According to *checks internet*, 442 is a good number. Now I know that this thing exists I think I definitely need one too. kane.co.uk/knowledge-cent…
@nz_walker you usually don't need jquery either nowadays ... and if so, then you could maybe claim that you're more hip than the React hipsters github.com/nefe/You-Dont-…
@SiouxsieW@Giapo@gnat Hi S. Do you have any insight about how soon the vaccine might be approved for younger kids? I've read that that "A clinical trial is ongoing in younger age groups" but I haven't seen timelines
@nigelmcnie yeah all good, the timing is really fortunate for me. I had a long-awaited shoulder operation 2 weeks ago. Phew, lucky, and gladly hibernating
@nigelmcnie Nice. Yeah you'll be sweet, sorry for the unsolicited suggestion, but good to know you're good (I already know you're a very calm and capable dude). All the best for the new baby ❤️
@nigelmcnie aww man. So rough. My sis had this last year in London, it's such a challenging journey on a mental health level. Take care, I hope you have good emotional support network (both family/friends wise & maybe worthwhile seeking professional support, IMHO). Hugs
@gnat 9 is amazing. DOS used / for options at a time when there couldn't be any collision problems (between /? options and /file paths), because MS-DOS wasn't originally designed to work with directories. Just a floppy disk with a pile of files and no directories. Great find
9. At one point, DOS let you use / instead of \ in file paths and there was a secret setting to turn commandline options from /a to -a. 🤯web.archive.org/web/2010061203…

A thread of interesting things I found on the net lately.
1. Douglas Adams's Hyperland documentary, from when people needed linking explained to them. Features: the inventor of the animated icon. archive.org/details/Dougla…
@amfastic@golang@go_akl I would only be able to attend the first 45 minutes due to a conflicting appointment. But gonna grab a seat if there are tickets left a day or so before 🤘
