@juniormc405 @Masculincreed Because of the shame, their reputations and they would have to live with what they had done if one more woman or child could have been rescued and they took that spot.

My woman said; ‘Men are privileged. They don’t have to sacrifice.’ I said nothing. Just asked her to look at the Titanic numbers. 73% of women survived. Only 19% of men did. She tried to counter it. Then I told her something she wasn’t ready to hear…

@LeftyTravis @astros Dusty over taxed the young pitchers while he was here, so we leaned on the next generation of pitchers which caused them to break down faster. Now we are seeing combination of bad luck, bad planning, an aging baseball team, with a below average farm system, also tax limited.

Wanna hear y'all's thoughts on the last couple Astros seasons. Is it just poor luck because of so many injuries? A lack of talent? Guys just underperforming? Bad roster management? A motivational problem? What are your thoughts?

My boss just sent me a Slack message that says "hey do you have a sec?" No context. Just the digital equivalent of a tap on the shoulder before an execution. I replied "sure, what's up?" two minutes ago. The little indicator says he's typing. He's been typing for three solid minutes. What could possibly take three minutes to type? Are we restructuring the entire org chart? Am I being fired via a multi-paragraph manifesto? I checked his calendar and he has a meeting with HR at noon. My heart rate is currently higher than it was during my last stress test. He finally hit send. "Do you know how to convert a PDF to a Word doc?" I'm going to bill the company for my future cardiology appointments.

@JeremyBranham everybody above the third base coach has a hand in the debacle that has been the start of this season. Crane is complicit because a bunch of these issues go back to when he fired Click. I'll be super impressed if they recover.

@fwmarqix That is some serious family ugliness. Your sister threw a hand grenade and you responded with a tactical nuke strike on her home base. One might call that excessive escalation.

I caused a situation at family dinner last week, and I am not apologizing for it. My older sister had been drinking. She gets mean when she drinks we all know this, and we usually manage it. But this time, she went too far. She and my youngest brother got into one of those classic family arguments about who does more for the family, who shows up, who carries the weight, who sacrifices the most. Normal dinner territory, honestly. But my sister started losing the argument. And when she loses, she stops fighting fair. She looked at my brother across the table and said, “At least I actually finished college. You failed out and lied to this whole family for two years.” Full table. Extended family. Partners. Everyone. My brother went completely still. He had been carrying that secret for years, working up the courage to come clean on his own terms. She just took that from him in front of everyone. I told her to grow up. She said the family deserved to know the truth. That’s when I made my decision. Very calmly, I said that since we were being honest tonight, most of the family already knew she married her husband for his money, just putting it on the same table she put my brother’s secret on. Her husband had no idea the family knew. He pushed his chair back and left the dinner without a word. Now the family is blaming me for their marital problems. I’m blaming my sister for starting a game she wasn’t prepared to lose. My brother texted me that night. Two words. Thank you. That’s all I need.

My takeaways from Trump's comments just now: 1. "I do not want to extend the ceasefire." Trump wants the Strait of Hormuz opened asap for the sake of the global economy, which gives Iran lots of leverage 2. "We totally won the war." Even if the Iranians don't give him a political win, he created his own 3. Journalist: "You're saying you need at least the prospect for a signed deal today and tomorrow, or else you would resume bombing Iran?" Trump: "Well, I expect to be bombing." That's posturing, expected from both sides during negotiations 4. "We are totally loaded up; we are much more powerful than we were before the ceasefire. We used the ceasefire to restock, and they have probably done a little restocking." I believe this is also posturing and expected 5. "Iran can get themselves in a very good footing if they make a deal. They can make themselves into a strong nation again, a wonderful nation again. They have incredible people... they have to use reason, and they have to use common sense." That's Trump making it clear he wants the war to end and for Iran to give him an off-ramp. He's clearly open to working with the current Government. CONCLUSION: I still think the war is over, however my concern has increased for limited strikes again for a short period of time. However it would probably be because the IRGC is not giving Trump an off-ramp, as Trump clearly wants this war over. Fingers crossed

A 21-year-old woman from Dallas, Texas recently turned a short airport layover into a moment she will never forget. When she learned that her boyfriend, who serves in the military, would have a 30-minute layover at a Dallas airport between flights, she realized it might be her only chance to see him for a long time. But there was a problem. Without a boarding pass, she would not be able to get through airport security. So she came up with a plan. She bought a $70 plane ticket for a flight she never intended to board, simply so she could pass through security and meet him at the gate. Sara and her boyfriend met at the Dr. Pepper factory in Waco, Texas, and had been together for just over six months. From the beginning, their relationship had been long distance because of his military service. As soon as he received his orders and she learned his connection would be in Dallas, she decided she was going to make those 30 minutes count. When the moment finally came, the two reunited at the airport gate, sharing a brief but emotional visit before he had to board his next flight. Sara later posted a video of the reunion on TikTok on February 6, writing: “Falling in love is buying a ticket just to get into the airport to see your long-distance boyfriend for 30 minutes between flights.” The video quickly went viral, gaining more than two million views. For Sara, the layover happening in her city felt like a small miracle, and she hopes the story encourages other military couples to hold on through the distance. Sometimes love shows up in the smallest windows of time.

FOH with the prospect talk like they didn’t just pay Kyle Tucker $60M a year to be their fifth‑best hitter. The Dodgers are the best team in baseball because their payroll sits in its own tax bracket, miles above almost every other franchise, full stop. They have unlimited financial resources, so they’re not forced for trade prospects as much as other teams. When they do move someone good, it doesn’t matter. They can cover any mistake with another massive, deferred contract without blinking. The only meaningful difference between them and other well‑run teams is the budget. They’re the Rays with a stack of blank checks. They’ve drafted and developed very few true stars in the last decade; they bought the rest. Any conversation that ignores their spending is disingenuous at best. Stop acting like they’re some feel‑good story built on plucky underdogs and homegrown talent.
Nelson Espinal@nelson__espinal

This is why the Dodgers are the best-run franchise in baseball. Andrew Friedman, rather than trading his prospects, keeps them and figures things out later. He kept Dalton Rushing even with Will Smith in the fold, and now Rushing is breaking out.

@_JeremyBooth @JBristolKHOU You haven't said anything that we all didn't already know if we've been paying attention. We lost our way when Crane fired Click and the braintrust considered the foremost analytics department in all of baseball. Dana is a very good head of a scouting department.

It’s probably time for @JBristolKHOU and I to do a show on how the Astros got here. Some of the Astros fans won’t like it, but this has been in motion for quite some time. Dana’s best shot was in 2024, and they refused to hit guys where they belonged in the lineup. He’s here to fix the draft and the culture of the org. He’s only had 2 drafts. Time to appreciate what accumulating assets and player capital takes. The Bobby Heck crew set all the winning up, even though others get the credit.

"Hey Derek, my laptop screen just shattered," said the new graphic designer, hovering by my cubicle. I stared at him until he slowly backed away and submitted a ticket. He properly classified it under Hardware Failure. He attached photos. He provided the asset tag. It was a flawless ticket. I had a replacement device sitting in the drawer right next to my knee. I could've handed it to him right then and there. Instead, I set the ticket status to 'Awaiting Vendor Procurement' and made him sit at his empty desk for three days. Why? Because if you give them a replacement instantly, they expect instant service forever. You have to train the users to respect the queue.

@All4freedom_B @MarioNawfal Close, but I believe he always demands more than he actually wants. In this case he will let keep the hormuz strait closed, but get rid of all their nuclear material and he will give them something for reparations of any infrastructure or civilian damages.

@MarioNawfal He wanted the Strait closed and knew Iran would shut it down. His “open the fuck!ng straight” post was theater to make it appear he wants the straight open. He knew Iran would refuse, empowering him to go harder on Iran while getting the world more reliant on the U.S.

Something doesn’t add up… Before the war started, everyone I spoke to agreed the U.S. Navy (which is more capable than the rest of the world combined) CANNOT open the Strait of Hormuz militarily And everyone also confirmed what Iran warned: They will and can close the Strait of Hormuz if attacked Both pro-U.S. and pro-Iran analysts and military veterans agreed on both points So why the hell did Trump, who SHOULD have access to the world’s most capable intelligence and most experienced advisors, decide to enter this war? What am I missing??

@ConnorMichael Take a deep breath, he's not right at the moment. The question is can he, or the team get him rigged in the next month. If so we have a 2a pitcher, if not he will need to be moved to the bullpen because he can still blow through the first at-bat of a rotation.

I was fired today. Well, laid off. "Budget cuts," my boss said. I packed my box. I was terrified. I have a mortgage. As I walked to the elevator, the CEO—the big boss who never talks to anyone—stepped in with me. "You're Sarah, right?" he asked. "Yes sir." "You stayed late last month to help the interns fix that presentation. You didn't ask for overtime." I nodded, surprised he knew. "I can't stop the layoffs," he said. "Board's decision. But I made a phone call." The elevator dinged. He handed me a card. "My friend runs a firm across town. He's expecting your call at 9 AM tomorrow. He needs a manager who cares about people. The pay is 20% higher." I stared at him. "Why?" "Because you held the door for the cleaning lady every single morning," he said. "I notice things." Character is what you do when you think no one is watching. Credit: Nancy brooks
