@askparamount Macbook, Chrome. Same on my Android phone with Chrome. My TCL TV simply is behaving in a non-deterministic way and will put me in a loop with the menus.

Hey @AskParamount why can I not watch Milan v. Torino? I get a non-descriptive error on my TV and I get a VPN message on my computer. I do not use VPN. I am missing the opening game and I am very bummed.

@askparamount I have already looked through these things. I do not have VPN set up. My ISP is T-Mobile.

Remember the telephone? Remember missing a call? Remember thinking, "if it's important they'll call back." Remember walking out of the house to an uninterrupted hours of fun, docs, accomplishment? Maybe phones these days aren't smart enough.

@pczarkowski I've been thinking about this a _lot_. In order and two things come to mind: * shift-left has to be towards a team of mixed skillsets not an indivdual. * tools need to favor fixing errors over finding them in the form of pull requests and at all levels of the stack.

"Shifting left" put all the cognitive burden on development, how are we going to ensure that "shifting down" isn't just going to put that cognitive load on operations ?

I know you're not worried about being fired, but prepare anyway: - Send one cold email. - Drop into a local meetup. - Reconnect with an old friend. - Publish one Twitter post each day. - Have coffee with someone you can help. Small effort. Big hedge.

Is X for xit-ing? Certainly seems X no longer marks the spot? At what value of X does X become valuable again? Okay, enough punning today. Cheers.

Why aren’t we talking about tools that improve “ilities” by taking action? Many report flaws: PMD, Rust’s Clippy & Checkov, but very few are as ruthless as Python’s Black. open.substack.com/pub/behemphi/p…

@tottinge > unpredictable work needs better estimates I'm getting old and feeble but I think I learned about oxymorons back in the 80's. Are those still a thing?

"It's hard to predict what this dice will roll." "Well, then, you need to get better at predicting." Conventional wisdom about software development processes - that unpredictable work needs better estimates, not a more predictable way of working.

Why is my dev friend moaning about more security training? What is his company trying to fix?! Let's stop fixing the humans and imagine an new class of tools to be more humane. behemphi.substack.com/p/why-find-whe…

I grow weary of "full stack developer." It's a myth and does the humans carrying such titles a great dis-service. Can we change the conversation to full stack _teams_ and govern that with Dunbar's numbers?

@jessfraz Well if it's on Amazon it will be in about 4 seasons from now with generally fading quality. If it's on Netflix it will be canceled and we will never know.
