A little late to share this, but as of January I've stepped into a new role at @animocabrands as Ecosystem Lead Pretty crazy to think that I joined Animoca 2 years ago as a Portfolio Associate, helping portfolio companies with whatever they needed - then Portfolio Manager, owning marketing and GTM across multiple projects, building out our creator network with Frens Network, and now becoming Ecosystem Lead for one of Asia's most active and largest investors in the space. The Web3 ecosystem is changing faster than ever, and these are the main challenges I see companies struggling with right now: · Projects that bet on consumer adoption from the last cycle are now struggling to drive revenue · Dwindling product-market fit for their core product or service · AI eating into crypto and broader tech, more aggressively this year than ever before · A broad push toward institutional, and the question many are asking - was crypto and Web3 always just a subdivision of broader finance? The only constant in life is change. Every ecosystem has to adapt quickly to survive long-term. But what does an Ecosystem Lead even do? Ecosystem is a very broad term, especially for a company that has grown to 620+ portfolio companies from around 500 just a year ago. To me it sits at the intersection of investments, supporting existing portfolio companies, and GTM and partnerships. · Observing the market to understand which projects and founders might be a great addition for our investments, and where there are opportunities with existing portfolio companies · Advising on GTM for portfolio companies and partners, especially for western teams trying to enter Asian markets · Building and strengthening partnerships across the broader Animoca Brands ecosystem · Managing new formats such as curated networking events and institutional-focused podcasts Thanks to everyone who is part of the journey!

I want to take some time to explain what @offstage_x really is and how it came to life. One day, I was chatting to some crypto people about a conversation I’ve had many times. And at the table, they said: man, there’s a big problem with crypto. People outside of the industry hate it. It’s not relatable, there are all these scams, it’s just the same thing over and over again. But then the conversation took a turn. They went to stories about their lives. About their beliefs. About their excitement for the future. About their learnings from their past. And I remember looking around and thinking : “I just found the answer.” The answer to the thing everyone was complaining about, that crypto didn’t feel real enough, was sitting right in front of me. THEY were the ANSWER. The HUMANS behind the protocols. Then, after joining the EF, I remember talking to @Snapcrackle one day, and he said, “Binji, why don’t we just interview founders and interesting people in crypto?” And that was it. Within a day, @nloureiro and I had a logo and @lou3ee & @renaissancing_ found an awesome crew in Argentina. Then we sent invites to 40 people. No set or location or script. Barely a plan. They all said yes. (That trust means everything, and we will do right by it). When we arrived in Argentina, we had to build everything from scratch. I even reached out to my high school ex who lives there to help (ty tuti and valentina! #therekindler). @wagmiAlexander was the first guest and when it ended, I looked around the room and knew immediately we were onto something. Everyone felt it. And then we did it again. And again. And again. 41 interviews in 4 days. And man are we grateful for it. To have learned more about @AyaMiyagotchi , @dannyryan . To learn more about Ethereum and why people believe in it. To learn about @sandeepnailwal and his childhood. To learn about @StaniKulechov and his first ever computer. To learn about @VitalikButerin and the first thing he ever built. To learn about Timour and his DJ life. To learn about a smoking peach. To learn about @functi0nZer0 and how much he loves his kids, about @dabit3 and his suit business, about @camiinthisthang and her time dropping everything yet gaining even more. About the boldness, the fear, the failures and the future. About the people that make crypto real. And I’m so excited for you to see it. Crypto is nothing without its people. And Offstage is for the people. Now, some thanks: Thank you, Jorge, Luis, Sol and our Argentine crew, for sitting there with me for 4 days. 10, 11 hours, interviews after interview while we played Jenga with a bunch of crypto people. To James and Joshua: thank you for allowing this to happen. For making it happen. It’s hard to put belief in something that’s almost subjective in nature. But you put belief in it. And I think the world will come to appreciate that. I certainly do. To Nuno: without you, and without you pushing me to be better, pushing us to really just do this in the best way, this wouldn’t exist. Thank you. And thank you for the memes. You’re getting really good at those. To @web3content: For helping us have a clear head when it comes to putting out this stuff. We could not pull this off without you. Thank you for everything. To Louie. Louie Louie Louie, my man, my homie, the operator. Oh my god man this edit was some of the best I’ve ever seen. I think everyone else can stand by that. And to think we are just getting started. To Devcon volunteers, to RubzComms, Natalie, Filippo, Shanz, Stargirl, for helping all the guests feel welcome. And to our guests: you all know who you are. Thank you. For the lives that you live and the values that you hold. A lot of you are very different from each other. A lot of you had opposing views on things. A lot of you are competitors. But ALL of you are here. And I am fucking honored to tell your story. See you Offstage. Something top secret.

Nearly everyone who works in marketing and comms in crypto is incompetent. Inversely: nearly everyone who is good and marketing and comms does not have either in their job description. There are, of course, exceptions. I've worked with a few. But they are few and far between.
Kristel@Web3Kristel

I muted this. Anyone with sense knows that after a tweet passes a certain number of impressions, you mute it. You wouldn’t know this, though, because you crave attention and need validation so badly that you sit there refreshing the comments. Someone had to screenshot your desperate pleas for my attention. So here, puppy, here’s the attention you’ve been begging for. And mind you, it’s the weekend. I highly recommend getting a life off this app. Maybe then you’d be less of a menace and more creative instead of a rage-baiting, insufferable, mid-tier manager. Since you’re so obsessed with my past, let me help you out: I’ve been running brand accounts for over eight years. I’ve managed 10+ accounts before moving into crypto five years ago. I founded my own company, led countless creative campaigns, and managed major socials across multiple categories in this space. I know you’re dying to know exactly which accounts I’ve worked on. But since I still lead strategy for a few of them, I won’t be disclosing that. If you had even an ounce of professionalism, you’d understand that. If you respected client anonymity, you’d understand that too. But you don’t. Because at your core, you are: -A mid-tier product marketer shoved into a social role far beyond your skill set. -Someone who thinks rage-baiting is a “strategy.” (It working on your personal account does not mean it belongs on the brand account.) -A guy who inherited a 3M-follower community and genuinely believes he built something. You could never create that from scratch, because you don’t have the ability, the instinct, or the discipline to run a real brand account. It shows. the Solana account is now just a flood of reposts. Which tells me one of three things: 1. You’re too lazy, or too dim, to create original content. 2. You don’t understand that reposting everything cheapens the brand. It screams “every shitpost is welcome as long as it mentions Solana.” 3. You have no sense of quality control. Solana Foundation didn’t hire someone qualified; they hired the “pain sponge” Toly described, someone willing to take the heat and say whatever as long as the the brand for gets impressions. And when the time comes to actually rebuild that account into something respectable, you’re going to be quietly shoved back into whatever product role you came from. My issue with you was never personal. It was about Solana’s marketing strategy. And as a marketer, I have every right to comment publicly. I know you think we all need to ask permission before doing anything Solana-related, but I still believe in the original ethos of this space: permissionless. Look it up. And some personal advice: If you’re going to be the face of Solana’s socials, grow a spine or shut up. People will have feedback. If your reflex is defensiveness, you’re proving my point, you are not qualified for the role. Seasoned social media managers know how to handle criticism. Only losers spend their Saturdays begging strangers online to validate them. Perhaps, like Base did, you should build a bridge and get over it.

The legal team @SolanaFndn does not allow me to say things like: - SOL is undervalued - Buy SOL - SOL to $1000 What I can say: - Solana is the epicenter of crypto’s most talented network engineers, DeFi and consumer founders, and creatives - Solana is the only scaled, decentralized network that encompasses institutional, consumer products, and everything in between - Aside from ETH and BTC, Solana is the most well integrated with onramps, exchanges, neobanks, and brokerages - Unlike ETH and BTC, Solana’s strategic value is built on driving onchain usage and revenues - a story that connects with everyday investors - Doors opened this year for Solana that will become much more obvious in the coming months and years (if you haven’t already noticed with recent news…) - Solana is half the age of Ethereum and yet commands equivalent or greater mindshare at all levels, i.e. the slope is steeper - We haven’t even been through Breakpoint yet - hundreds of companies are likely sandbagging announcements until then - There are product categories in which Solana is currently behind, and it will not remain that way forever
