📢Is current “human-AI alignment” research clarified and comprehensive? 🤔 We systematically reviewed 400+ papers across HCI, NLP, and ML to develop a framework for 👫<>🤖"Bidirectional Human-AI Alignment", encompassing the dual paths of “Aligning AI to Human” and “Aligning Human to AI”. We also clarified core questions 🎯 of 'what is the alignment goal?', 'with whom to align?', and 'what are the human values?’ Further, we share 👩💻 our findings on values and interaction techniques for alignment. @ranaalotaib oh no!!! Why!!! I've seen chocolate hummus before, but salted caramel is just wild! I feel they treat hummus like a base, just like avocado or cheese.

@jeffbigham Is there a reason why this can't be accepted somewhere else? Is it because there was another similar paper on arxiv? I'm still not getting the concept of arxiv and reviewing, I thought we should be anonymous?!

one of my #chi2024 papers was rejected, b/c reviewers questioned novelty b/c of an arxiv paper posted 20 days before and b/c generating UIs is of limited interest to CHI (submit to NAACL instead!)
no chance to rebut. costly these days, no way it gets accepted elsewhere now.
