At least there's this: Suffering born well is an occasion for great merit.

I think this is a mischaracterization of the Catholic teaching on Scripture A person ought to read Scripture in light of other Scriptures (for example, we may read the Lord’s statement to take and eat His body in Matthew 26 in light of the command to eat his flesh in John 6, for example). Of course, there is the teaching authority of the Magisterium to settle disputes and teach with authority, but ultimately, there is a reason why the laity are encouraged to read the Scriptures. The greatest theologians spent extensive time in exegesis, which largely requires seeing the harmonies of Scripture When confused on a teaching of Scripture, one ought to look to other areas of Scripture, the Tradition handed down by the Church, and the teaching of the Magisterium

Hayden Panettiere comes out as bisexual at 36, saying she previously feared “public opinion” in Hollywood.

@crousselle Wife and I are both O- so we genuinely don't need rhogam, but would get it if we did. I can tell though that the doctor's don't believe us. I guess this is why.

Once again, I feel that people assume rich people are paying a lot of money to dress like hamburgers for a night. In reality, fashion houses buy tickets and allocate them to celebrities, who they dress to show off how they can make hamburger shaped outfits.
Joyce Carol Oates@JoyceCarolOates

it would be wiser of the ultra-rich to display their wealth in private; when it is public we can see--literally--how their tax cuts allow them to waste millions of dollars on absurdly extravagant costumes of no benefit to anyone. granted this is a fund-raiser, & without providing a platform for vanity, by keeping the displays private, not so much money would be raised.

@CapturingChrist @emuse1955 Brother, I'm not sure if this rage-bait approach is best, regardless of what your opponent did. I firmly believe the LDS "church" is false and Joseph Smith was wicked, but I do not know how we could hope to reach those deceived by him in this way.

@stinekey And unfortunately instead of genuine discussion of the movie we're going to end up with a bunch of trolls complaining about race swapping and the reactionary liberals pretending it's the best film ever because they don't want to agree with the trolls about anything.

@stinekey Nolan is a good director but him directing epic myth is a bit like Tom Hooper directing movie musicals, the directing style doesn't really match with the material

@lukei4655 This becomes obvious when you think about the fact that pastors are meant to be fathers to their flock, not branch managers.

If I were a Bishop one of the first things I’d do is remove term limits for pastors. Both the priest and the people have a right and institutional need for stability. If you need to remove a guy, start a canonical process. If you don’t trust a guy, don’t make him a pastor.

@SethDillon My hot take is that your really don't have to play with your kids all the time a la Bandit & Chili in Bluey. Lol. You can and should let them play alone, with each other, or just be bored!

Stop whatever you're doing — especially if you're reading The New York Times — and play with your kids.

My thought is: 1) if it breaks the rhyme, absolutely unconscionable. 2) if it doesn’t break the rhyme, it’s up for grabs (i.e. possible) but still does it change the overall feel? 3) Never mix and match. If it’s Thee to keep just 1 rhyme, keep Thous through the whole thing.
Philip Bunn@PhilipDBunn

I’m not saying that people who remove “thee,” “thou,” “thy,” “thine,” etc in modern hymnbooks, thereby ruining internal rhymes, should be “excommunicated.” But I am saying if YOU said they should be excommunicated, I could see the argument.

@CaptainVatican So the most recent study done by CARA says that not only do 96% of weekly massgoers read the bulletin, so do 58% of only occasional massgoers! It’s such a cultural staple, Catholics know it’s where they need to go for the latest info even if it’s only an online bulletin

I've been following with interest the discussions following the debate on Fatima with @emuse1955 (as I have family who are persuaded Guadalupe is demonic). The videos by @sincead33 and @WalmartThomist were excellent.
