@Uniquekatie02 I recall ana anesthesiologist who did exactly this because her husband's name was Sleep (or similar). Sometimes the stars really do align!

I told myself I was keeping my last name after marriage because I’d already built my whole career with it. I already had degrees, certificates and years of professional reputation attached to mine. Then I met a man whose surname was “Cash.” The opportunity to walk into meetings and introduce myself saying, “Hi, I’m Ms. Cash from accounting,” was simply too powerful to ignore.

@mtnhousewife @PeeveyThirza Nah, my mom both homeschooled and breastfed all of us. We all had chores. I'm just overwhelmed and don't know where to begin. I'll get there, but I won't blame it on maternal neglect.

I often see comments from women saying that they aren’t naturally domestic or they hate housework. Guess what? You can change! I know I used to be terribly disorganized. I had no interest in housekeeping tasks. But the more I learn and practice homemaking, the better I get at it and the more I enjoy it and even look forward to my daily work. (Today I get to refold clothes and neaten closets). Don’t give up, dear ladies.

Honestly, I think it’s ridiculous that every time I drop off my 2yo at Montessori, I have to drag in my 7 mo who weighs like 28 pounds in a stroller instead of just leaving him in the car for like two minutes tops. I’ve thought about doing it, but I could imagine one of the parents telling on me or something.

@hannastasia I'm an American woman and I do think Israel has a right to exist, just because every country does. My view cancels yours out. Just say you hate Jews and go join your Germany fellows. You are, in fact, the bad guys! 🏆

You shouldn’t be protecting your heart by pretending you don’t have one, btw. Chronic emotional suppression is a stress state. It is cancerous and ages you rapidly.

Unfortunate Conflict of Evidence
@CartoonsHateHer Unlike gentile parenting, Jewish parenting involves lots of pressure to excel academically and lots of guilt. Ivy league or bust. A doctor or a lawyer are the only end goals. Tough but proven successful strategy. Oh you said "gentle"? That's very different. Never mind.

Gentle parenting isn't just about validating emotions--it's also about never providing any rewards or punishments, any relying solely on "natural consequences." But this often fails with spirited kids, and gentle parenting experts won't tell you what to do next. Link in replies.

Uppity Hobbit: Maker of Things
So last Tuesday night I took twitter off my phone. I was spending WAY too much time on here and setting a bad example for the Tiny Tyrant, who was starting to notice and want to stare at the phone too. Also I would be fooling myself to think it wasn't affecting my mental health and even my aches and pains. I figured I would check in once and awhile on my MacBook - which is not conducive to carting around with a toddler. All was going well when my father called about 1 on Wednesday to tell me my mother was on her way to the ER. No movement. No response. Probable stroke. Whirlwind followed and I headed to SC the next day - a few days ahead of my planned visit. This is NOT a sad story, however. Quite the opposite. My father had been about 15 minutes away from leaving for his doctor's appointment when he noticed my mom's foot twitching oddly. He went over to her and realized something was badly wrong and called the ambulance. A very good EMT (my EMT sons know him) attended. He made a very fast call. They made excellent time to the hospital and then the ER doc called the house - catching my father before he got in the car - to ask permission to give the clot busting shot. They didn't have his cell, so if he had missed him there would have been a 30-45 minute delay in administering the shot. Shot was given and within the hour my mother was bitching about wanting coffee. NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE whatsoever. But of course I still went home to help take care of my folks and hug my mama.
