This works validates a study we published in 2021 about an in vitro #AMD model that recapitulates key cellular features of RPE pathology. Observations in a mouse model were reproduced in patient stem cell derived RPE in a masked study. Great work team! @sharmaruchi29 #ipscs

@sharmaruchi29 @far_mit Our lab breaks down another dogma - ABCA4, whose mutations lead to Stargardt disease, is only important in retinal photoreceptors. Our lab shows ABCA4 is also important in the retinal pigment epithelium. New insights for gene therapy. Outstanding work @far_mit @NatEyeInstitute

Hey #arvo2022! Come check out my poster (F0408) on human RPE heterogeneity. We defined 5 RPE subpopulations with different sensitivity to retinal diseases. Thanks to @_BrightFocus and all the colleagues in @Kapilbharti123 lab for contributing to the work!!
