By best estimates there’s about 300,000 airbnbs in Australia. From what I’m reading it’s the biggest downturn in atleast 15 years in the industry. The ATO has all so announced new tax laws that stop investors that own Airbnbs from using them during peak periods like Xmas and Easter and if they do they lose all negative gearing and deductions for the whole year. Will be one to watch to see how many return them to the rental market or simply sell.

@DramsFull @Potstirrer111 @DrewFlux It's not illegal to do this. It's just the free market operating as designed. If there is an oversupply of STRs relative to demand, the price will adjust until the less profitable ones go under. I'm not seeing the issue here.
