I get that some of these ideas about defunding/demilitarizing/scaling down police are new to some folks, but it's also a v. useful opportunity to ask: if the media you consume is just now giving you a more accurate account of police failure/brutality, is that media serving you?

The way Thunder Bay news outlets have centered white and non black voices in their coverage of the black lives matter protest here is exactly why black people are hesitant to speak about racism in this city. Instead of uplifting our voices and experiences white voices are echoed.
