@poisonousbranch I defined generations of drivers as drivers who are all similar to age that rose thru the ranks at relatively the same time. By the time Lando was in F1, Oscar wasn’t even in F3. I think it’s more Lando being very young for his generation than Oscar being in the wrong generation

A enquete está errada. Primeiro. Ninguém. Nenhum piloto se compara a Juan Manuel Fangio. Nenhum. Não é apenas o fato dele ter vencido 5 campeonatos. Ele venceu 50% das corridas que disputou. Mais ainda. Nos últimos 35 anos, desde antes da morte de Senna, os carros são muito, mas muito seguros. Já Fangio, corria com um charuto de aço que chegava a 340km/h e tinha volante de Kombi e freio de carrinho de rolimã. Detalhe para o capacete, era uma touca de couro para aquecer a cabeça. Em sua época, morriam algo como 3 pilotos por temporada, além de um carro ou outro que decolava e matava os espectadores também. Comparar qualquer outro piloto a ele é uma heresia. Ele foi o Michael Phelps do automobilismo.

But F1 to me was always- these cars are built to go as fast as humanly possible on road courses

@mcldefender @wilmotscore The speed was never about the aero package, it's down to the power and torque of the engines. DRS had nothing to do with top speed. It was solely implemented to male overtakes easy. The sole problem with aero is the dirty air it creates that disturbs the balance of the car behind

Clearly, reducing the aero is not enough, as fans 35 years ago were complaining cars couldn’t race.

09 cars are largely based on the previous cars, dating back to 98 regulation change, which itself greatly reduced the size of the cars in a way that was supposed to improve racing…it didn’t.

Formula 1 stopped using grid girls from the start of the 2018 season, announcing the change on January 31, 2018. Liberty Media, the sport’s owner, deemed the practice outdated, irrelevant to fans, and at odds with modern societal norms. The move, effective immediately for all 2018 Grands Prix, aimed to align with a more inclusive brand vision. I watched Moto GP last night which made a refreshing change with pure racing. The starting grid had the grid girls which was a breath of fresh air to see. I personally would prefer to see women on the grid as the alternatives in 2026 seem to be on degrading sites which will not be named. What are your thoughts on Grid Girls?
