"It's difficult to ever say if it's your best one or not, but that one felt the most complete lap that I think I might've ever done" - Lewis Hamilton Saturday, September 15th, 2018. Ferrari's formidable challenge to Mercedes' Formula 1 dominance had taken heavy blows in recent rounds at Hockenheim and Monza. They needed a dominant weekend and, luckily for them, Round 15 at Singapore looked to be exactly that. The downforce-heavy circuit had long been an Achilles' heel for the Silver Arrows as they struggled to keep pace with the Ferraris and Red Bulls on such circuits. Lewis Hamilton: "It’s going to be a tough one. Ferrari and Red Bull are likely to be very quick. We just have to try and maximize what we have." Practice brought encouraging results as Mercedes looked much closer to their rivals than initially expected, however they were still seen as underdogs as Qualifying rolled around on Saturday. As the cars rolled out for their first run of Q3, the broadcast followed Kimi Raikkonen as he laid down the marker for Ferrari. As Raikkonen finished his lap, the focus shifted to Lewis Hamilton who had been lighting up the timing screens with what looked to be a very decent lap but when he crossed the line, that time was absolutely extraordinary. Beyond any imagination. 1:36.015 3 seconds faster than 2017's pole. 3 tenths faster even than 2019's pole. "Wow was that fast", Crofty exclaimed. Max Verstappen would follow with an incredible lap himself, one that would've seen him take Pole on any other day of the week. He was still 3 tenths off Hamilton's lap time. The second run saw little improvement. That lap was truly untouchable. Lewis exited his car, overwhelmed with what he had just achieved: "It felt like magic. I don’t think there was a moment in the lap that was wide or had any problems. It was just perfectly to the limit." Toto Wolff stated he "couldn't explain what had happened on that lap", while Andrew Shovlin claimed: "We were looking at the overlays and simply couldn't find where the time was coming from. He was just finding grip that the sensors didn't say was there." James Allison called it a lap that "felt like it had been delivered from another planet." Lewis had beaten what the computers and simulations had deemed to be possible. He had reached perfection. Verstappen and Bottas were also visibly impressed following the session, with the latter claiming to have no idea where Lewis had found the 7 tenths gap. It was a lap that silenced even the great Niki Lauda, who had recently been critical of Lewis' off-track antics. But when that time flashed on the screens, he took off his iconic red hat, as was his tradition when showing respect, and conceded that Hamilton was of the calibre to not let his those activities stand in the way of his greatness. Paul Di Resta called it a "possibly championship-winning lap", and that's exactly what it was. It was the lap that killed Ferrari. As Mark Webber later stated: "Cometh the hour, cometh the man" So enjoy the Greatest Lap in the History of Formula 1

"This is the Greatest Moment of my Life" Abu Dhabi 2014 Lewis Hamilton dominates the only double-points race in F1 history to claim his second world title. He flies off the line and eventually even laps a wounded Nico Rosberg to collect his 33rd career victory, a very illusive number for some 😉 He becomes the first Mercedes-Benz Champion in over 50 years and celebrates an iconic title in style. 👑🇬🇧

Nicky Catsburg, two time 24H Nürburgring winner: "Usually it’s a madhouse here starting Saturday, but now it’s actually been like this since Thursday already. You can safely call that the Max Verstappen effect." "I haven’t heard anyone yet who doesn’t like that he’s participating. For us, the extra attention is also mega-cool. To me, it shows once again what an amazing guy he actually is." (source via telegraaf.nl/sport/autospor…)

@noobbricks @DeviouSxTV @Welsh_Lady2 They didn’t chose a winner, they chose to finish under racing conditions as requested by ALL teams and drivers before the race. Had the roles been reversed Max would have had to defend. But difference is that Max would have made it much harder and not leave door wide open.

After Eifel 2020 Masi stated that per regs he had to let "ALL" cars unlap themselves after the safety car, precedent had been set! This was the defence if Mercedes took the Abu Dhabi result to court, they WOULD have won! #F1 #AbuDhabiScandal #LewisHamilton #TeamLH #RedBullCheats
Noobbricks⁴⁴@noobbricks

Eifel 2020 Lewis Hamilton takes his 91st Victory and equals the great Michael Schumacher's once untouchable record while Daniel Ricciardo takes his first podium for Renault in another great COVID Race. But the weekend also supplied some controversy and one VERY peculiar statement from Race Director Michael Masi: After Lando Norris triggered the Safety Car on Lap 44, cold temperatures left both Hamilton and Verstappen very unhappy with how long it was being kept out. After a long wait to clear the Mclaren they then had to wait even longer as Masi let all lapped cars unlap themselves, a "bad call" in the eyes of Hamilton and Verstappen. After the race, Masi justified his decision by pointing to the regulations and stating they required him to let ALL cars unlap themselves. The regulations however infamously used the word "any" instead of "all". Therefore Masi had established his own interpretation in this very race and it was that very interpretation that gave Mercedes a valid line of argument to take the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix's controversial classification to court, had they chosen to do so. Masi had already established the regulations to be followed back in this race and yet it was he that would ultimately fail to follow them when it really mattered. "Human Error".

Mclaren didnt get to use the systems they developed on the Ferrari data and the the Glock/Hamilton situation isnt close to being similar idk wtf you're talking about. Mercedes didnt pit because they couldn't have predicted a rule break by the FIA, Glock didnt pit because he wanted to try something crazy for a points haul.

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 Am I talking bullshit or did McLaren gain date from Ferrari was there race fixing and did Lewis pass timo on the last lap. Then 2021 Lewis didn’t change tyres max did and the rest is history 🤷‍♂️

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 100% blame on Mercedes. They were the one pushing for the no ending under safety car. They did not take it to court because of it. Luckily there are things written in the rules that can supersede them. The right call was made and helped push the sport to new heights.

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 And on your timo statement of them not changing tyres that’s what cost them losing out too Lewis it sounds like that was Lewis’s issue in 2021 he didn’t change tyres and max did so couldn’t defend 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@ManarrHosam One should ask why Hamilton has never won a championship when he actually has to beat real drivers

@DeviouSxTV @Welsh_Lady2 you're not gonna believe this but Mclaren didnt win anything and were heavily punished for their cheating in 2007. So yes it is far worse than the governing body stealing a world championship title.

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 What about stilling all of Ferrari data and helping the team make a better car from the data the obtained. So a team straight up cheating it better than the fia letting the 2 car fight till the end of the race 🤦‍♂️ didn’t help Hamilton out so we gotta say it’s not true

In 2021 the governing body chose the championship winner in the last second going against the actual on track achievements. In 2008 a team cheated in random mid-season race which then forced Ferrari to make a big mistake and bottle big points. It wasnt the FIA themselves and Ferrari were majorly at fault unlike Mercedes in 2021. I dont even know where you're getting the Glock story from, Hamilton almost lost the championship because Toyota stayed out on slicks and it took until the final corner for them to fall away. Glock didnt give him the title, he almost stole it.

@DeviouSxTV @Welsh_Lady2 Okay I'll just act like you didn't just try to bring up 2008 because that's incredibly ignorant. And people do bring it up all the time but have no idea what happened then and only use it to excuse 2021. Its not the same in the slightest.

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 But is the fia looked into it and says it stand it’s no more tarnished than the 2008 WDC title with crash gate spy gate and timo glock moving over on the last lap because he dosnt like massa but we don’t bring that up every minute of the day

If you are trying to compare this to Abu Dhabi then I will tell you that 1) it was very cold and they were struggling to keep their tyres in the right temperature window, which wasn't a problem in AD and 2) Masi said that that's the rules so its not up to him to change them for what drivers or teams want.

@noobbricks @Welsh_Lady2 It don’t make it right of rules where breached and the wrong person won. I mean the fia looked at it and said yes there was a human error it how the rules where applied but results still stand. Max didn’t want a tarnished title but people won’t stop talking about it

@RobAssum @Welsh_Lady2 the rules are the rules, there's no clause for procedure changes depending on the laps left. Mercedes couldn't have pitted because they thought the rules would be followed, in which situation they'd have just given away a free win. Zero blame to be put on Mercedes.

@Welsh_Lady2 Not the same circumstances. 1 lap vs 11 laps left. Also no pressure being applied by all team principles to not let the race end under safety car. Mercedes shot themselves in the foot by not pitting Lewis.
