There was one QB in the transfer portal who could make UCF competitive next year. They didn’t land him. The rest of them- whether it’s Pribula, Arnold, Lagway or whoever- aren’t good enough to elevate them from 5 wins to a legitimate B12 contender. Gotta land THE guy. They didn’t

College football has to be the only sport where people hate underdogs

FAU is going to upset UCF tomorrow. UCF hasn’t really been tested yet this season, while FAU has already been through a much tougher schedule. Late in games, FAU can put the ball in the hands of Kaanan Caryle and Devin Vanterpool and trust them to take over. UCF doesn’t have that one go to guy who can close a game. Jordan Burks and Riley Kugal haven't proven they can.

As far as I know, there are no sports ever that attempt to include the “best” teams in playoff. The goal is to ALWAYS quantify who is most deserving based on past results. Stacking a playoff which will produce the best matchups on subjective criteria is completely illogical.

You know, I get why UCF fans are so afraid of getting a transfer starting quarterback, but to act like this isn’t the new age of college football is simply delusional. If we develop a guy, and he turns out to be great, chances are the blue bloods will throw a major bag to get him. There are significantly more Dillon Gabriel’s in the sport than Bear Bachmeier’s. Every single team in the playoffs (minus Alabama and JMU) has a transfer quarterback under center. So does every conference champion. Just because we whiffed once doesn’t mean we should stop trying. Adapt or die.
