4/4: Concretely support, through robust funding and firm public statements, support for humanitarian access and assistance, with UNRWA as its cornerstone.

Yesterday I presented on the situation of HRDs in an era of democratic backsliding at the 2024 @CALACS_ACELAC Congress. It was wonderful to speak alongside fantastic scholars and practitioners. Thanks to @IDRC_CRDI for the invitation! #humanrights @cooperation_ca

Pleased to highlight this year's featured panel at the Annual CALACS Congress: "Democracy, Justice & Human Rights: Cross Perspectives between Latin America & Canada." Thank you to all participants for contributing to this important discussion!

@CamJohnWilson That sounds like a very good lesson; but also, don't forget about the political economy of academia: they want you there longer to take your money and exploit your labor. I suggest being strategic, doing things correctly and quickly. These two don't need to be mutually exclusive.

One lesson I'm trying to learn as a PhD student is doing things correctly rather than doing things quickly. ⏳ It's hard to do because as a PhD student, I want to impress by how fast I can do a task, but if it's not done well it's not impressive at all! 👏🏼

5/5: On the other hand, @YouTube @X @Meta (etc) have done very little to verify the credibility of information - so, the echo chamber created spreads non-truths about a range of issues, including the credibility and legitimacy of elections.

4/5: Confirmation bias and selective avoidance are cognitive processes that amount to this: We select information that confirms our beliefs and disregard sources that don't. Through adaptive algorithms, #Socialmedia selects information on our behalf, creating an echo chamber.
