The fact there are more than 100,000 potholes means the materials they use to pave the streets is crap and doesn't last. Instead of taking credit in filling the 100,000th pothole & looking for an opportunity to pose in front of a camera, the @NYCMayor should be doing the job he was elected to do. That's why the city is falling apart faster than his approval rating.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani helped fill the 100,000th pothole of his administration on Staten Island Monday. The mayor said it’s the most potholes the Department of Transportation has filled in the first 100 days of a year in more than a decade.

Conservative journalist Nick Shirley gives his speech at CPAC 2026 "America's the greatest country in the world. And people like to act like it's not, but meanwhile all the other countries had thousands of years to do it, w– we had 250 years to do it. And whatever made us the greatest country in those 250 years we need to make sure that remains that same way or else we will fall and the critics will win and we will not beco– we will not stay the greatest country, in the world."

The U.S. military is decimating the terrorist Iranian regime: “So far, we’ve struck over 8,000 military targets, including 130 Iranian vessels – constituting the largest elimination of a navy over a three-week period since World War II.” - Admiral Cooper

Having lived in the corporate world most of my life in a management role, I can tell you why this is. The way to advance your compensation in the corporate world is to ensure you are moving up the career track ladder, which of course means taking on more difficult jobs with increased responsibilities. Now most people don't like to hear that. But they need to understand that if they stay in their current role, all they can ever count on is that paltry "merit" raise, which barely keeps up with the cost of living. Most corporations want their employees moving up or out. That's just the way it is.

Why do companies give 1%, 3%, or 5% raises to their current employees, but 10%, 15%, 20%, or 35%+ more to new hires?

Mamdani came out of the emerging Islamoleftist subculture and power bloc. He wants to disavow it, which is great. But that bloc still exists, and it will keep influencing our politics for many years to come.
Josie Stratman@JosieStratman

Mayor Mamdani says his wife, Rama Duwaji, was not aware of anti-Israel posts (like calling some Israeli citizens “parasites”) from an author she illustrated an essay for. Mamdani calls that rhetoric “reprehensible” and says his wife booked the gig thru a 3rd party

@mattyglesias Seems like basic economic concepts have been failing the economy because US schooled economists are taught to never think outside the box. Just continue to retread failing neoliberal ideals. That’s why the US economy is awful for the majority of Americans.

It is astounding how pretty much the entire left have given up on climate change as an issue. It was omnipresent for ages, and now it barely features at all in leftist discourse. Sort of makes you wonder if their commitment to it was ever real.

@Noahpinion I’m sure there are millions of Americans that just want a home to call their own (especially younger people). I think a lot of people would choose a small shitty house vs a small shitty apartment because at least your money isn’t just disappearing into the landlord abyss

The wackiest populist argument for why middle-class Americans are actually poor is "Americans didn't want to buy bigger houses; corporations MADE them buy bigger houses" Bro WTF are you even talking about, have you MET Americans?!

Real Estate Property Manager says property taxes are so high in New York City, even after raising rents to $3,200 per month he only nets $500 of profit off each unit “I finished the building, I got the tax bill, $26,000. Here I am 5 years later, it's $40,000 a building Three families. So I had to raise the rents to $3,200 because I have an apartment and a half just for the taxes and the water bill. The other apartment and a half, remember it's 3, pays the mortgage and pays the insurance I net 500 on each brand new building. That's not business. No, it's a disaster.” “I'll give you one more. I got a building that I first started in Bay Ridge, 20 family house. All right. I renovated it. I fixed it up and I made it still affordable. When I first bought the building, it was $32,000. Five years later, it's $78,000” Property taxes are out of control and driving up rent prices
