No, dumbass. Management worked out a deal to merge with Frontier. The DOJ gave the green-light. JetBlue, afraid this would strengthen competition against them, offered more money to shareholders in an illegal hostile acquisition bid. The greedy private-equity owners took the illegal JetBlue bid.

Now, they are in the same position they would’ve been in 2 years ago, as Ben poignantly points out — except with 2 more years of lower fares. As Spirit’s own CEO said at the time in opposition to JetBlue’s hostile acquisition, JetBlue was buying Spirit to shut down the ultra-low-fare model, eliminate its fare-lowering competition, and raise ticket prices by 25-40%. Instead of surrendering to absorption and elimination by JetBlue, Spirit’s CEO advocated that Spirit merge with Frontier — a deal that was pro-competitive and that the Justice Department green-lit. That was the legal course of action for Spirit — and it was the course of action that would’ve given Spirit the best chance at longevity. Why in the world you would argue for brazen lawbreaking when these are the facts, I do not understand. But then again, I’m not a crooked shill like you.

The number of people sharing this blatant misinformation is astounding. Yaroun is not a “Christian village.” It’s mostly Shia Muslim - 76%, and 24% Christian per official voter data. People with eyes could see the mosque and church in the “before” photo. It was heavily damaged in Israel fighting against terrorist Hezbollah, but the village was largely evacuated beforehand.
