Happy Founders Day! Today, April 6th,1652, marks the anniversary of the arrival of the first permanent white settlement in South Africa. After disembarking, 82 indentured men and 8 women under the command of Jan van Riebeeck soon began the hard work of building the first fortress and setting up farms to supply and service Dutch East India Company ships and crews with fresh water, vegetables and fruit, meat and medical assistance. However, the first winter experienced by Van Riebeeck and his crew was extremely harsh, as they lived in wooden huts and their gardens were washed away by the heavy rains. As a result their food dwindled and at the end of the winter approximately 19 men had died. Van Riebeeck was under strict instructions not to establish a colony even though be came equipped with a document called the ‘Remonstrantie’, drawn up in the Netherlands in 1649, which was a recommendation on the suitability of the Cape for this VOC project. Eventually permits were issued in February 1657 to free nine Dutch company servants (who became the Free Burghers) to farm along the Liesbeeck River in order to deal with a wheat shortage. They were given as much land as they could cultivate in three years but were forbidden to trade with anyone other than the VOC. With the number of private farms increasing, by 1659 the station was producing enough to supply any passing ship. A testament to the fortitude of the ancestors of the Afrikaner.

On the subject of farm crime. We sold two bags of potatoes here today. One of which was to someone I know very well. The other person put 8p in the honesty box. So unless they would like me to post their mugshot all over Facebook I would appreciate it if payment is made tomorrow

The 6th of April marks the arrival of Jan van Riebeek 1652, and the beginning of settler colonialism which was later consolidated through wars of conquest, which our forefathers fought and sacrificed their lives, resisting for centuries, the brutal dispossession of our people, until the creation of the Union of South Africa, May 31st, 1910. The creation of the Union of South Africa was a settlement between the British and Dutch colonial forces post the Anglo-Boer War, for foster white solidarity and to the complete exclusion of the natives, the African masses of our people. The struggle against forgetting is a foundational and navigational principle for any genuine liberation struggle. Lest we forget!

I wish the world could understand the absolute savagery that white people, especially Afrikaner Boers, have to deal with in South Africa every day while most of the world turns a blind eye.

Farm murders are not “normal crime”.

Well-known horse trainer, Jannie Borman, was murdered on Saturday evening at his home on the Vaal Racecourse. He was found in his living room with multiple torso injuries, his hands and feet tied with copper wire, and cable wire around his neck. He was known for rehabilitating difficult horses and was a respected figure in horse racing circles.

VISA TEST FRAUDSTER CHARGED AND BAILED GHANAIAN national Judith Meta-Mbombo Mintosha, 44, has been charged with impersonating another woman to sit a UK visa test at a training centre in Lewisham. Prosecutors say she posed as “Martha Atakorah” during the exam at PDA (Training) Limited but is suspected of dozens more. Mintosha appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court and was granted conditional bail, with restrictions including no travel documents and a ban from ports and airports. She is due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on April 29. The system is being played.
