Sixto Rodriguez was alive. He was in Detroit. He had no telephone, no computer, and no idea that millions of people on the other side of the world knew every word of his songs. He was fifty-six years old. He flew to South Africa and played six sold-out concerts to crowds who had believed for twenty years that he was dead. When he walked on stage for the first time he said: "I'd like to thank you for keeping me alive." He passed away in August 2023. He was eighty years old.
