@spectator Hey @DouglasKMurray, my parents moved here in the 80s & I was born here. Am I even less British than your example? I consider myself British and take some pride in it - can you imagine why a white guy telling me I'm not really British might seem a bit racist?

@dlandoncole is 100% right. Even with perfect polling (which nobody had), General Election volunteers aren't fungible. Labour lost votes in winnable seats because the strategy went too far and ignored conditions on the ground. If we want to continue to win, this must change.

I've never understood why French people describe a job's pay in "net" (after tax) terms. Everyone's tax rate is different, eg if they are married or have kids. Even if tax is withheld from your pay every month, the only figure that matters is gross pay, not net.
