@LesIsMore1 @RealTalkRJ No disagreement I would also argue that abortion and MAID are ‘wedge issues’ - small percentage of overall service profile, and options exist outside Covenant. Before people get excited about this issue - id ask them to focus on broader funding (and efficiency) of the system.

@AinsleyInc If they did, would love to see it couched in neutral locker room interview terminology : “Happy with the doctor’s compete level tonight, even if the outcome wasn’t what we wanted. Gotta get back into the lab and work practice so he can convert that chance next opportunity.”

@fakeezzie @DuaneBratt It’s kind of interesting to see how politics seems to drain the normal human being elements out of the role …and then it’s refreshing to see the politician show us some of that personality. Maybe that’s a lesson for the future us.

@LesIsMore1 @PythiaR The old ‘expectation’ was RE values that increase, in or adjacent to urban centres at 7% annually…but the last 7 years have disrupted that pretty dramatically.

@PythiaR Yup. But I mean, if we are talking residential home prices, rising annually at the pace of inflation is basically where you want to be. It’s just that it is occurring after such a run.

Pythia Cap: Partially Conductive
I remember being told ad nauseum by friends & acquaintances in 2021 that it was impossible to lose money on real estate in Canada. I wish I were joking but that is verbatim the language that was used & I still hear it from time to time. Generational reset in attitudes required.

@LesIsMore1 @RealTalkRJ Agree - but trying to stand, somewhat on principle. Not a fan of public funding for private schools, so need to be able to extend that concept across to healthcare.

@fakeezzie It sounds terrible, because I am a current Carney fan - but I want Poilievre to come around to a more inclusive reasonable, less pugilistic approach. This isn’t a bad start - and his speech, and subsequent Mansbridge interview was good. Buuut…lots of evidence to the contrary

I think Mr. Poilievre handled himself very well. When positioned next to Rogan, he comes off as quite reasonable. BUT, you are not fooling anyone if you think this endorsement will move the needle with persuadable Liberal supporters, especially women. It's the Brosphere FFS.

"So it was an Energy and Commerce top secret effort" 👀 Markwayne Mullin starts to unravel after he's pushed to explain his undisclosed 'classified' travel.

Sure, Markwayne Mullin may have a short man complex and serious anger issues but he's also breathtakingly stupid

@PatMcAfeeShow @NFL How about…and stay with me here…we hire a whole group of professionals referees, on a year round basis, with a draft each year to fill spots and an evaluation system to rank performance and…nevermind. Too expensive, right ?

The pattern/rule is: Everyone the Trump Administration hires or appoints is terrific, simply the best possible person for the job. Until they leave, when they are “terrible” and/or “weak”. Hey, I don’t make the rules…

@andrew_leach @4kingSM @kevin_incanada @grok As a fundamentalist IO economist: Large emitter system short-run pass-through: ~0 in most EITE industries, potentially larger for industries without (or with imperfect) import competition. Also muted by OBPS. But, in all cases, WAY lower than consumer pass-through.

Quebec's carbon price applies to diesel fuel. The federal carbon price does not. Truckers, from the perspective of carbon pricing, were consumers. The carbon price for consumers was zero-rated a year ago.
The Food Professor@FoodProfessor

If Canada sees 800–1,200 long-haul food truck trips a day, a $110/tonne carbon tax means roughly $34M to $52M a year in carbon-tax costs on diesel alone. And that doesn’t include higher fuel prices themselves, clean fuel costs, refrigeration, or backhauls.

From the DM’s… Looks like we’ve reached the “Danielle Smith was sent by god” part of Alberta politics… Our only question is who is so breathlessly telling the crowd that Smith is “the greatest premier this nation has ever known”… And to which nation they refer. #abpoli #cdnpoli
