2/4. #OlegDeripaska (worth $2.9Bn according to Forbes),the founder of #BasicElement the aluminium, construction and energy. In 2008 he was the richest #Oligarch in Russia and the 9th richest in the world. He lost nearly all his assets due to crashing markets and debt, but bounced back with a pubic IPO raising $1.5Bn. In 2014 his net worth was 6.5Bn, in 2022 it is down to $1.1Bn. He also employed Paul Manafort, who even offered to give him personal briefings about the 2016 presidential election. The US imposed #sanctions against him in 2018 and some of his companies. #Deripaska gave an interview where he said he is troubled how quickly Russia abandoned everything they had achieved post break-up of the Soviet Union. He after abandoning all successes to 2000, we are now sitting - waiting for victory, victory of what? a colossal mistake. I think that destroying #Ukraine will be a colossal mistake, including for us. There is no potential for regime change, including here in Russia - he said at an investment conference in #Siberia. He said funds are beginning to run low which is why “they” are beginning to “shake us down”. This indicates #Putin is applying pressure on the Oligarchs now. He said Russia is experiencing serious pressure because of western sanctions and they are forced to look for other countries which have serious resources to invest - i.e #China. Oleg he has been pumping Telegram recently requesting negotiations to start ASAP. Surely these statements puts Deripaska into mortal danger…
