The NDP’s UNDRIP experiment through DRIPA has become exactly what many warned it would be: a full-blown fiasco. What was sold as symbolic reconciliation has instead led to co-governing with indigenous groups, resulting in court rulings that invalidate mineral claims, create massive uncertainty for resource development, and grant unelected bodies significant veto-like power. The NDP’s repeated flip-flops and backroom deals with the First Nations Leadership Council have only deepened the chaos and exposed the NDP’s complete lack of transparency. Closed-door negotiations, shifting positions, and bypassing the elected Legislature have eroded democratic accountability and public trust. It is time to repeal DRIPA before this ideological experiment does even more damage to our economy, rule of law, and democratic governance.
