@stringfellow_md Fuck. This is the saddest thing I’ve heard all day.
It’s the guns.
It’s always the guns.
English

@stringfellow_md i don’t know how anyone read this thinking the 2 year old was the one who responded to you.
English

@stringfellow_md I really like the light up shoes because it makes it easier to see my very petite little girl when it's dark or getting dark. I hadn't thought about school shooters & protocols to dim the lights. I'm not sure if this outweighs the benefits of being more visible to cars.
English

@stringfellow_md A 2 year old? I’ll take “things that never happened “ for $1000, Alex.
English

@stringfellow_md @fuzzymittens School shootings remain statistically rare. It's probably more fun for the girl to have light up shoes. The chances of being shot increasing due to shoes is not suggested and is rare enough to do the trade off in favor of fun shoes. Check data from Brookings and the FBI.
English

@stringfellow_md @KellDA It is a valid point. But a two year old saying that, I find a little hard to buy.
English

@stringfellow_md Welcome to America where parents have to strategically think (and worry) about how the shoes they buy their kids can get them killed in a shooting. Surreal.
English

@stringfellow_md I read about a parent wanting to buy light up shoes for her 10 year old. Child said no. She knew under the wrong circumstances they could dangerous to wear.
English

@stringfellow_md As a Australian this thought would never cross my mind.
My heart breaks for you all ( except those that don’t support gun control).
English

@stringfellow_md @commiegirl1 The comments of people who can't comprehend that this was an exchange between two adults and not one adult and a two year old is astonishing.
English

@stringfellow_md I just had a dad not want light up wheels on his daughter’s wheelchair. I almost cried when he told me that.
English

@stringfellow_md I recently rejected light-up shoes for my 5-yr-old grandson for the same reason - and I don’t consider myself an alarmist.

@stringfellow_md Okay so for everyone hear who cant interpret what they’re reading, the 2 yr old did not say this!
She was talking to her sister who was going to get the kid shoes and said “get her some light up shoes”
Sister replied no because school shooters.
English

@stringfellow_md This just makes me incredibly sad and angry. My kids loved light up shoes and it was so fun and whimsical watching them run in the dark. My heart breaks for America!
English

@stringfellow_md This conversation would not happen in Canada. Full stop. I wish you all the best.
English

@stringfellow_md I have heard this before. 😞 It’s awful that our country is so bad that a kid can’t even wear a pair of fun shoes. We shouldn’t have to live like this.
English

@stringfellow_md Went to an outdoor event last weekend. One where in the past we would have worn sandals yet we all showed up in athletic shoes in case we had to run. Chatting with a couple of strangers at the event and they not only did the same but had discussed escape routes just in case.
English

@stringfellow_md @ItWasACoup Can you EVER, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS, imagine that you’d have heard this response before ?
