It happened again… This morning, while waiting for my coffee order, a woman near me grabbed her coffee and, as she passed behind me to leave, remarked, “yer not a woman.” I get it. I really do. You see me living openly, thriving, and unapologetically being myself, and it makes you uncomfortable. My existence doesn’t fit your narrow view of the world, so you lash out. But your words say more about you than they do me. Whether they were said out of fear or uncertainty, or if you're actually just a terrible person, they won’t change me. They won’t stop me from living visibly. They won't stop me from being who I am. They certainly won't stop me from participating in society just as you do. For years, I hid who I was. I detested the reflection in the mirror and repressed my truth out of fear of being labeled "different." It was killing me. The moment I accepted myself, everything changed. I found peace. I found strength. I found joy. I found myself. So, when you throw that kind of shade, know that I have lived through a hell that your shade hasn't a hope of comparing to. I am still here. I am now thriving. I offer hope to anyone who has walked a similar path because no amount of cruelty can erase who I am. Cheers! -- Kels 😘 🩷💕
