I think the implication here is not that the aliens were referring to the periodic table pre-se, but to a representation of nuclear structure or just organized structure of matter and energy in general.
This man wasn't a theoretical physicist, and to "Periodic table" might be the most accessible metaphor for "coherent structuring of matter/energy.
The interesting part is, if somehow the periodic table might be considered to be more *correct* than the standard model of particle physics. That would be quite telling. Not sure we could infer that from this though.

To my knowledge this is literally THE ONLY time an alleged NHI experiencer/UFO witness with essentially no advanced technical knowledge— relays information that they allege is some physics insight from an NHI— which in fact turns out to be novel and very complex and very interesting.
999 times out of 1000 people who claim this kind of thing repeat some “dumb persons guess at something advanced sounding” gobbledygook.

You have a bit too much fun with that. Playing up the spook(y) atmosphere, creating ambiguity seems like a subtle control tactic.
It's like an obvious cop-car parked on the side of the highway with no one in it. Enforces the speed limit psychologically, with minimal man-power.
It can't last, once an certain kind of quorum is generated, we'll all know they can't catch all of us. Seems that's already happening.
