@RegentDenali @NatesHiddenGems I get keeping the momentum but after a while it could have a negative impact. Maiden had a similar experience releasing ‘Slave in 84, LAD in 85 but SIT in 86 and 7th in 88. The Scorps were much more radio friendly so that might be the difference but 4 years is a long time.

@NatesHiddenGems Part of the reason it took longer is they released the live album and just rode out all the hype and success of Blackout and LaFS for a long time. This album did kind of come out flat from what I remember.

Scorpions Album Ranking from Worst to Best #9: Savage Amusement (1988) Obviously I wasn’t around when this came out, but I wonder what the reaction to this was at the time. Did people feel this was a letdown after ‘Love At First Sting’? If I was there, I would’ve felt a little let down. Especially when it took FOUR YEARS for this to follow up ‘Love At First Sting’ which is an ETERNITY back then!😂 It’s definitely not a bad record, hence it being in the top ten. But something is…lacking with this album. It might be the production lacking any heft or balls! The guitars don’t sound heavy enough on most tracks. Also, I’m not a huge fan of the singles. When the most well known song from this album is ‘Rhythm Of Love”, is that really a good thing?😂 It’s a good song, but is it worthy of being the best known song? Nooooo… I’m not a big fan of ‘Don’t Stop At The Top’, especially as an opener. Like I said, I like ‘Rhythm Of Love’ I don’t love it. The one single I REALLY like is ‘Passion Rules The Game’! Such a CATCHY song! ‘Media Overkill’ absolutely SLAYS! Then more Scorpions ballads I don’t love. ‘Walking On The Edge’ AND ‘Believe In Love’ are songs I’m not huge fans of. My favorite song on the album might be ‘Every Minute Every Day’! LOVE the riff and groove of that song! ‘Love On The Run’ is a BLISTERING track as well! Overall, a classic example of an album where I love most of the deep cuts, but don’t really like the singles. I tend to skip quite a bit of this album to get to the tracks I really enjoy. Making this album land here in the bottom of the top ten…
