My testimony from today.
Wesley Yang@wesyang

"The result is I'm a 23-year old gay man who's never had an orgasm and may never experience one. Let that sink in." Jonni Skinner tells the California legislature's judiciary committee how he was puberty blocked, dosed with estrogen and rendered anorgasmic as a minor by gender clinicians that never inquired into the source of his gender confusion as a child and instead put him on a pipeline to a lifetime of medicalization. Full text of his comments below: "When I was young, I was a feminine child, and I discovered trans influencers online. They said: 'Change your body and your life gets better. Don't and it gets worse.' Or, as my doctors told my mom, I would commit suicide. The medical and mental health providers didn't bother to ask why I felt the way I did. They poisoned my body with blockers and hormones, arresting my puberty and messing with my development. The result is I'm a 23 year old gay man who's never had an orgasm and may never experience one. Let that sink in. I was rendered anorgasmic because once you say you could be trans, that's a full stop -- no exploration as to why is allowed, even if you are struggling. The former president of WPATH, Dr Marcy Bowers, the California surgeon who had performed the surgery for Jazz Jennings at 17, admitted on video that puberty blockers, followed by cross sex hormones, results in no orgasms and stunted genitals. SB, 934 guarantees that more people will end up like me, the walking but wounded. I could have been spared all of this, if any of my therapists would have explored why I felt dysphoric. But they never did. They only led me to hate my body more. The Supreme Court just ruled in a rare bipartisan decision that laws like this are unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination. This bill is an attempted workaround that will be used to silence therapists who could have helped me avoid the irreversible harms to my body and the loss of my sexual function as is the same for many others. So today, I ask you to extend some empathy to survivors like me and vote no for this bill."

At school, I learnt that maternal mortality rates were a reliable indicator of a country’s level of socioeconomic development & the effectiveness of their health system. It is truly shocking that the UK’s maternity deaths have increased by 50% over the past decade. 😥

📣🚨Karen Webb, an NHS specialist nurse with 42 years’ experience working with older people, faced losing her honorary Queen’s Nurse title after being reported for gender-critical posts on X. The situation began during what should have been a standard team meeting. In the informal chat before proceedings began, Karen, in response to another colleague, expressed support for the Olympic Committee’s decision to exclude male athletes from women’s sporting categories. Within minutes, she received a private message from the Trust’s Head of Equality and Inclusion, informing her that she had “upset a lot of people”. The following day, she was told that her “attitude” towards transgender individuals needed to be discussed. Three months later, Karen was called to a formal meeting with senior figures at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, where she was questioned about her views on trans people and her ability to provide them with compassionate care. Believing the matter to have been resolved, Karen was then contacted by the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN), which informed her that it had received a complaint about alleged “transphobia” and “bigotry”. She was instructed to delete her social media posts or risk losing her honorary title. The experience caused her significant and understandable distress. At that point, Karen turned to the Free Speech Union for support. The FSU wrote to QICN on her behalf, setting out her legally protected right to hold and express gender-critical beliefs under the Equality Act 2010. Shortly thereafter, QICN dropped its investigation and issued a full apology, acknowledging that there was “no case to answer” and that Karen had “done nothing wrong”. Following a Subject Access Request (SAR), it emerged that the complaint had been made by a senior activist colleague, who had also disclosed information from a confidential internal process – despite that matter having been closed without any disciplinary action. This disclosure appeared to be a malicious attempt to damage Karen’s professional reputation and facilitate the removal of her honorary title. A subsequent grievance investigation by the NHS Trust upheld Karen’s complaint, finding that confidential information had been improperly shared with QICN. The Trust accepted that Karen had a reasonable expectation that discussions within the internal process would remain private, and confirmed that this expectation had been breached. The Trust has since stated that “appropriate action will be taken” to ensure lessons are learned and similar incidents do not occur again. Although the Free Speech Union was ultimately able to protect Karen’s title and prevent disciplinary action, the experience has left a lasting impact. Now retired, she reflects that the episode has cast a shadow over what should have been the culmination of a long and dedicated career in nursing. This sad episode resulted in Karen deciding it was time to retire. We are proud to have supported Karen during this difficult time. Cases like hers are far from isolated – more than 40 per cent of the Free Speech Union’s casework now involves individuals facing repercussions for expressing gender-critical beliefs, which are protected under the Equality Act 2010. Watch Karen share her story and join the Free Speech Union below 👇

This poor, beautiful baby boy. Rest in peace. I can not imagine the pain and terror he suffered as he was violated. As usual the establishment tried to protect vile criminals by attempting to hide the images of the two accused, for whom there are no words to adequately describe. Evil and depraved seems an understatement.

A man who claims to be a woman attempted to explain what women think about men who claim to be women. He completely failed. *ahem* • “They reject the distinction between gender identity and sex and that these two things can be in conflict” No. We know that gender identity & sex are very different. In fact that is basically our entire argument. Gender identity = a manmade concept. Sex = Naturally observable over the entire natural world, including humans. Binary & immutable. • “They are concerned with the safety & integrity of spaces that are typically reserved for women” No. Not “typically”. *Are*. ARE reserved for women. “Typically” is an admission that you know the group trying to gain access to the women’s spaces aren’t women. Which is our entire point to begin with, sir. They’re men. • “Trans people are concerned with safety & privacy in private spaces.” Great. Then leave women’s spaces alone, respecting the women who want them, and focus on creating your own spaces catering to your “man claiming to be woman” needs, whatever they may be. We won’t stop you. • “Trans people are seeking to go about their business & mind their business” Cool story, but the problem is the process of that appears to be changing the definition of “woman” in law & gaining access to women’s spaces, services & sport. So we fight back because we are not willing to give up our rights & needs so men in dresses can “go about their business”. • “We have had inclusive policies… and there was not a spate of people pretending to be trans, going into spaces & abusing anyone.” Either a) you’re ignoring all of the cases of men invading women’s spaces & sexually assaulting women - we can name 10 examples just in prisons off the top of our head - because it doesn’t suit your argument; b) you’re completely aware & just lying; c) you argument is they weren’t “trans” which means they must have been making it up; d) even if there were no cases, it still doesn’t make men women! • “Discomfort alone is not grounds to exclude people.” No, it isn’t. Sex is. Men are excluded from women’s spaces on the basis of sex. We exclude all men, including men with a gender identity and men we are comfortable with. It’s frankly unforgivable to speak this untruthfully about this issue in 2026, and it’s utterly shameful that two men just nodded along to blatantly obvious untruths. This is the intellectual equivalent of junk food.

Some updates: Today, Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley appeared in court. They're scheduled for a plea hearing on October 13, with a trial set for April 14, 2026. I’ve also learned some new things about this case that somehow make it even more upsetting than what’s already public. Unfortunately... the UK judicial system is more worried about protocol than protecting children, and publicizing these details would actually run the risk of giving Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley a technicality to crawl through. All I’ll say for now is this baby was failed. Taken from his mother and handed over by the very system that was meant to protect him. Worse - the institution responsible for placing this baby in harm's way has absolute horror show of a track record. A catalogue of failed children. Abused, ignored, discarded. Case after case of missed warnings, safeguarding collapses, and vanished accountability. It is not fit for purpose. I’ve also seen evidence that more detailed reporting on this case did exist in the past, and it’s since been scrubbed. Delisted. If the media fails in its obligation to tell the truth about this case as things unfold, I will fill in the gaps when it is legally possible. But things must be done the right way lest the UK's startlingly pathetic "justice system" sees an opportunity to let these men slip through a loophole.

The trial of a homosexual couple who adopted a baby boy will begin this month in Preston Crown Court in England. Jamie Varley, aged 36, and John McGowan-Fazakerley, aged 31 stand accused of raping a 13 month old baby to death within 3 months of the child being placed in their care. Varley denies the murder and manslaughter of Preston on 27 July 2023. He has also pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty and one count of grievous bodily harm. He denies 12 counts of taking an indecent photo of a child, two counts of making an indecent photo of a child and one count of distributing an indecent photo of a child. All the charges, involving still images and videos, relateD to Preston Davey and are alleged to have occurred between March and July 2023. He also denies seven counts of possession of extreme pornography, between 2017 and July 2023. Varley is also jointly charged with McGowan-Fazakerley with one count of the sexual assault of Preston Davey, which he denies. His co-accused pleaded not guilty to the same offence and also denies two counts of cruelty and one count of allowing the death of a child. Judge Altham remanded both men, who lived in Grimsargh, near Preston, into custody ahead of a pre-trial hearing on in January. A police investigation first began after officers were called to Blackpool Victoria Hospital at 19:15 BST on 27 July 2023 after the baby was brought in unresponsive. Preston was pronounced dead a short time later.

What the Finnish data on gender affirmative care shows and why it matters The Kaltiala study onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/Q28XIYN9… in Acta Paediatrica this month is among the most methodologically serious pieces of research to emerge from the paediatric gender medicine debate. It draws on Finland's comprehensive national health registers, a resource that allows conclusions of unusual confidence in a field where small samples and lost follow up have plagued the evidence base. The study followed 2,083 young people referred to gender identity services in Finland between 1996 and 2019, comparing them against 16,643 matched controls. Psychiatric morbidity in the gender-referred group ran at 45.7% before referral, against 15% in matched controls. That baseline disparity alone raises serious questions about whether gender distress in this population is the primary clinical presentation or a secondary feature of more pervasive psychological difficulty. The more significant finding concerns what happened after referral and treatment. Two or more years after referral, psychiatric morbidity had risen to 61.7% in the gender-referred group, while remaining at 14.6% in controls. The gap between the two groups did not narrow following clinical intervention. It widened. This is not a treatment signal. It is the absence of one. The study authors concluded that for some adolescents, gender dysphoria may be an outgrowth of deeper psychological problems, and that adoption of a transgender identity may amount to a maladaptive coping mechanism. This conclusion, offered carefully and in measured clinical language, represents a significant departure from the assumptions underpinning the affirmative model. It is also precisely the kind of clinical observation that has been systematically marginalised in professional debate for the better part of a decade. The same research group's earlier mortality study established that the main predictor of mortality in this population is psychiatric morbidity, and that medical gender reassignment does not have an impact on suicide risk. This finding deserves particular attention because the claim that affirmation is lifesaving has functioned as the primary argument for overriding clinical caution, parental concern, and the ordinary safeguarding standards that paediatric medicine applies in every other context. The Finnish data does not support that claim. Viewed through the lens of child development, the picture that emerges is coherent and troubling. Bowlby, Ainsworth, and Fonagy established that presentations combining bodily alienation, identity disturbance, and severe mood and anxiety disorder are characteristic of disorganised attachment and mentalisation failure. These are fundamentally relational difficulties requiring relational clinical responses. A pathway that addresses such presentations as evidence of a gender identity requiring affirmation and medical intervention is not engaging with the clinical reality. It is bypassing it. Winnicott's account of the False Self is also relevant here. An identity formed and consolidated under conditions of psychological distress and institutional reinforcement feels entirely authentic to the person living it. That felt authenticity is not evidence that the identity is the appropriate clinical focus. Medicalising the presentation before the underlying distress has been adequately assessed and treated forecloses the exploratory space that genuine recovery requires. Over the study period, patients presented in increasing numbers and at younger ages, with severe mood disorders and anxiety disorders the most common psychiatric diagnoses in the gender-referred group. This demographic pattern is consistent with Bronfenbrenner's ecological framework, which predicts rapid increases in presentation when a new identity framework is adopted simultaneously across multiple system levels. It is not consistent with the explanation that a previously hidden population is simply accessing care that was always appropriate for them. What the Finnish data describes, read carefully and without the interpretive framework of the affirmative model, is a population of psychologically distressed young people, predominantly adolescent girls, who entered gender identity services already significantly unwell and who remained significantly more unwell than their peers after intervention. The clinical and ethical implications of that finding have not yet been adequately reckoned with by the institutions and professional bodies that promoted and implemented the affirmative pathway. They need to be.
