@ACReviewofBooks I go backwards paragraph by paragraph. It disrupts the flow and stuff that doesn’t look / sound right pops up.

@ACReviewofBooks @AcademicChatter Or read aloud. I use the “read aloud” feature of Word. It uncovers missing words, repeated ones, and sentences that are unclear. . .

Finally, it's time to proofread your writing. Are there any spelling/grammatical errors? Have you been consistent with spellings and abbreviations? Are your references accurate?

Now you can begin some of the detail-work, starting with line edits. Do your sentences make sense and flow nicely? Could you make your point more clearly/in fewer words?
