For decades, the Iranian regime has spread terror, death, and destruction throughout the Middle East and around the globe. Its recent actions have continued in that vein. AJC Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer Jason Isaacson joined @SundayGuardian to discuss the growing threat posed by the Iranian regime and a vision for a post-war future in which it no longer threatens the world. youtu.be/ixjweO-KHdg?si…

Four Hamas operatives have been sentenced in Berlin for building weapons caches and a logistical network targeting Jewish and Israeli institutions across Europe. The threat from Hamas, backed by the Iranian regime, continues to extend far beyond the Middle East. Iran and its terror proxies are exporting violence globally, endangering Jewish communities, undermining European security, and threatening international stability. wsj.com/world/europe/i…

On the Day of Poles Who Saved Jews, we honour the extraordinary bravery of those who, under the brutality of Nazi German occupation and the horrors of the Holocaust, risked their lives to save their Jewish neighbours. The heroism of these exceptional individuals must always be remembered as an act of courage and humanity.

We stand in unwavering solidarity with the UK’s Jewish community following an antisemitic attack early Monday, in which several ambulances belonging to a Jewish volunteer rescue organization were set on fire outside a synagogue in a neighborhood that is home to London’s largest Jewish community. Targeting life-saving services is a moral outrage and an assault on the values that hold our societies together. This attack comes amid a troubling rise in antisemitism that cannot be ignored. Those responsible must be held accountable. We will continue to confront antisemitism with urgency and stand firmly with our partners in the UK and around the world.

The Polish bishops’ letter is an important reminder of how far Catholic–Jewish relations have come — from suspicion to dialogue, from silence to mutual respect. This progress would not be possible without Pope John Paul II, whose courage and vision helped reshape the Church’s approach and open a new chapter of understanding. A step forward worth recognizing — and continuing. Thank you! @EpiskopatNews vaticannews.va/pl/kosciol/new…

We thank Iceland, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Liechtenstein for designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Following sustained and intensive AJC advocacy—both leading up to and since the EU’s IRGC designation—these six countries have taken a critical step toward curbing the malign power of the Iranian regime in Europe. This action will strengthen their ability to protect their citizens from IRGC-backed threats. We urge other nations to follow suit.

When former Obama administration official Ben Rhodes told Democrats who opposed the War Powers Resolution on Iran to get out of the party, he imposed a political litmus test. Writing in @TheHill, @AJCCEO Ted Deutch argues that disagreement isn’t a defect in American politics. It’s the very thing that keeps our democracy strong. thehill.com/opinion/congre…

“Designations alone are insufficient. Urgent action is necessary.” In @JewishChron, AJC Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs @FishmanJulie argues that as the Iranian regime becomes increasingly aggressive, recent steps by Europe, including the designation of the IRGC, are important, but they are not enough. We urgently need decisive and coordinated transatlantic leadership to confront and contain the regime's growing threat to regional and global stability. ajc.org/news/irans-att…

We welcome the passage of the Holocaust Expropriated Art Recovery Act, the latest progress in the long-overdue journey towards returning art looted by the Nazis to the rightful heirs of Jewish families. We commend the growing efforts by governments, institutions, and advocates to ensure that stolen works are returned and that historical wrongs are addressed with the seriousness they deserve. We urge President Trump to sign this bill into law as soon as possible. nytimes.com/2026/03/16/art…

We welcome the EU’s decision to impose 19 new sanctions on Iranian officials and entities responsible for serious human rights abuses. Holding the Iranian regime accountable for its repression is essential. Tehran must know the world is watching and that violations against its own people will not go unanswered. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry…

I spent sixteen years in government. In the Florida State Senate, we became the first state in America to stand up to Iran’s brutal regime by cutting off state investments in companies helping Iran develop nuclear weapons. How did we get everyone onboard? Because Iranian-made IEDs were killing our brave soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Democrats and Republicans spoke with one voice when the legislation passed unanimously. In Congress, it was the same. We passed sanctions - together - to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons program. We overwhelmingly condemned the regime’s repression of women, its persecution of the Baha’i and other minorities, its repeated violation of the human rights of its citizens, and its support for terrorism around the world. Again and again, Republicans and Democrats stood side by side calling out the regime, its terrorist IRGC, and the proxy terror groups it funded at the expense of its own people. Together, we remembered the victims, from our Marine Barracks in Beirut to our personnel in Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia; from Buenos Aires to Burgas, and the hundreds of brave American soldiers killed by Iran-backed militias and weaponry. So many Americans killed. So many innocent civilians murdered. All by this radically dangerous regime. We held hearings about these threats over and over again. But it was never just about the extent of the horrors spread by Iran. It was also personal. I represented Bob Levinson, the longest-held American hostage in history. I came to know his family as they fought tirelessly to bring Bob home from Iran, inspiring everyone who met them. Administrations of both parties tried. None succeeded. Over 4,700 days. As their Member of Congress, I desperately wanted to welcome Bob home. But he died in Iranian captivity. Throughout my sixteen years in office, there were always colleagues on my right and my left who stood together to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons because we understood what this regime was capable of. Kidnapping. Murder. Terror. Today we live in a time of intense partisanship. That’s the environment in which this war is happening. But any time an American President makes the sobering decision to use force, it is appropriate and necessary for Congress to exercise its oversight. I certainly did so during Republican and Democratic administrations. Even as this debate plays out, we all need to acknowledge the history of this dangerous Iranian regime and its threat to the world. The Supreme Leader and his forces have brought suffering to their own people, chaos to the region, and violence to the world. The blood of American soldiers and innocent civilians from across the globe is on their hands. The blood of the tens of thousands protesters they recently slaughtered is not even dry. So let’s pause for a moment to stand together - To acknowledge that the world is safer without the Ayatollah’s terror. To stand with the Iranian people in their pursuit of freedom. To support the brave Americans serving in harm’s way. For all of our political disagreements, we all share a stake in the success of this moment and this war. That’s what I’m hoping and praying for. God bless America.

Ayatollah Khamenei and his top commanders led a regime that brutalized the Iranian people and spread terror, death, and destruction throughout the Middle East and across the globe. The world is safer without them. Now is the time for the international community to unite in support of the Iranian people.

This is a difficult but decisive moment. For decades, Iran’s murderous regime and its terror proxies have kidnapped and killed Americans, attacked Israel and our partners, armed Russia’s war against civilians, and threatened the world while pursuing nuclear weapons. This danger is global — and it cannot be ignored. Today, I stand with the brave soldiers of the United States and Israel, and with the Iranian people who deserve freedom, not repression. May this moment bring greater security, spare innocent lives, and move our world closer to peace.
American Jewish Committee@AJCGlobal

American Jewish Committee stands with the United States and Israel as they undertake targeted military action to stop the Iranian regime’s global terror campaign. The world will be a safer place when the threat of the Iranian regime’s illicit nuclear and missile programs, along with the IRGC, is dismantled once and for all. We hope today’s military action is a decisive step toward fulfilling that vital mission. The Iranian regime has, for decades, pursued policies that threaten U.S. interests, endanger Israel and our Arab partners, destabilize the broader Middle East, and undermine global security. Its relentless advancement of a nuclear program in defiance of international obligations, combined with its ballistic missile proliferation, sponsorship of terrorist proxies, and violent repression at home, has brought the region to this perilous moment. AJC has supported the Trump administration's numerous attempts to reach a diplomatic solution and is grateful for the President's ironclad commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. The regime, however, has repeatedly demonstrated that rather than engaging in good faith, it remained committed to pursuing its decades-long ambition to develop weapons of mass destruction. Such a capability would pose an existential threat not only to Israel, but to the entire Middle East, Europe, and the broader international order. In addition to its nuclear ambitions, this regime has amassed a ballistic missile arsenal that it has repeatedly deployed – and has unleashed today – against Israel and our partners in the Gulf. Tehran has for decades been unwilling to curb its missile activity or seriously address this issue in previous negotiations. Today’s military action follows years of Iranian escalation, deception, and refusal to meet its international commitments — including the most recent inconclusive negotiations in Geneva. The responsibility for this crisis lies entirely with Tehran. Let us not forget that the Iranian regime has continued to brutalize its own people during months of deadly response to those bravely raising their voices against repression. AJC stands in unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people in their desire for freedom. The ultimate goal of today’s action and what follows must remain unchanged: ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon, constraining its destabilizing regional activities, and advancing a future in which diplomacy — grounded in accountability and verification — can succeed where past efforts have failed. The Iranian people deserve a government that prioritizes their welfare over confrontation and repression. The international community must remain focused not only on nuclear constraints, but also on Iran’s ongoing human rights abuses and support for terror. This is a sobering moment. The stakes for regional security, global nonproliferation, and civilian lives are extraordinarily high. AJC’s thoughts and prayers are with U.S. and allied military personnel, American and allied civilians serving abroad, and with innocent civilians across the region who may now face heightened risk. ajc.org/news/ajc-state…

On the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale, unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, AJC and the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (@UkrCongComAm) stand with the Ukrainian people in remembrance, resolve, and moral clarity. Russia’s barbaric aggression continues to violate human rights, undermine global stability, and threaten democratic values. The international community must remain steadfast in its support for Ukraine through sustained humanitarian, military, and economic assistance to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty and secure a just and lasting peace. Yesterday on Capitol Hill, AJC was honored to receive an award from the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America for our longstanding support for Ukraine's sovereignty and independence. In 1991, AJC became the first Jewish organization outside Ukraine to call on the United States to recognize the country's independence. As Russia's illegal war on Ukraine enters its 5th year, we reaffirm our support for the rights of the people of Ukraine and our commitment to advocate for a just, comprehensive, and swift end to Russia’s egregious crimes and aggression. Together with the @UkrCongComAm / @UNISdirect, we urge our leaders to stand with Ukraine. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
