In March, we continued our strategic tour by meeting with the bilingual rural municipalities of #Alexander and #SaintLaurent—two communities demonstrating strong municipal leadership and a clear commitment to the future. These on‑the‑ground discussions provided an opportunity to address local challenges and regional priorities, while highlighting our bilingual advantage as a concrete lever for cohesion, attractiveness and action. Working closely with our municipal leaders, we continue to build strong and resilient bilingual municipalities. #MBilingualMuni #FrMB 🔗 bit.ly/4vjMn1l

FCM welcomes today’s launch of the federal government’s Build Communities Strong Fund. Municipal infrastructure is the backbone of the Canadian economy. Across the country, municipalities are using federal infrastructure funding to get infrastructure projects moving this construction season. With the Direct Delivery Stream, we can accelerate projects and deliver the housing and infrastructure Canadians need—faster. The Community Stream remains the bedrock of federal infrastructure funding—proven, reliable and scalable. We look forward to working with the federal government on a national infrastructure plan that matches the pace and scale of our shared ambitions on housing, trade diversification and economic growth—and dedicated funding for rural and northern communities. #CDNMuni #cdnpoli

On March 19, Manitoba’s bilingual municipalities came together around a shared objective: building a truly bilingual Manitoba, in support of sustainable economic and social prosperity for communities across the province. The discussions highlighted the strategic role of bilingual municipalities as frontline governments, at the heart of economic development, planning and delivery of essential municipal infrastructure, and access to local services, including health care. It is at this level that our bilingual advantage fully comes to life—through the ability to deliver concrete solutions that are grounded in local realities. The participation of Premier @WabKinew reaffirmed the importance of close collaboration with municipal leadership to translate provincial priorities into structuring, on‑the‑ground projects. Exchanges with Minister #LisaNaylor further strengthened the alignment between municipal and provincial priorities, with a focus on efficiency and long‑term impact. Our bilingual advantage, in action, is a mobilized municipal leadership working toward strong, resilient, and well‑equipped communities—in service of a truly bilingual Manitoba. #MBilingualMuni #FrMB 🔗 bit.ly/3Prvvp7

The @MBGov has announced the creation of the Ste. Anne Hospital Working Group, which will hold its first meeting later this month. The group will be tasked with assessing the expansion of services and examining, in a structured manner, the conditions leading to a regional designation for Ste. Anne Hospital. This announcement represents an important and long‑anticipated step, building on sustained efforts led by the region’s bilingual municipalities. It reflects a clear recognition of the growing health‑care needs in southeastern Manitoba and the necessity of addressing them through rigorous planning grounded in current capacity, demographic realities, and future needs. By prioritizing a progressive, collaborative, and evidence‑based approach, the provincial government and regional partners are positioning themselves to identify durable solutions that strengthen care delivery, stabilize services, and support the essential role Ste. Anne Hospital already plays within the regional health‑care system. The @GroupeAMBM welcomes this approach and reiterates its commitment to working closely with all partners to advance a regional, sustainable, and fully bilingual health‑care system, ensuring equitable access to quality care—in both French and English—for communities across southeastern Manitoba. #MBilingualMuni #FrMB

The @MBGov is announcing an investment of nearly $340,000 to support recreational and leisure projects aimed at celebrating Francophone culture and strengthening bilingual rural municipalities across the province. These initiatives—including community centres, recreational infrastructure, cultural spaces, and seasonal amenities—respond directly to the needs of local communities and contribute to the vitality of their living environments. High-quality infrastructure plays a direct role in the growth and well-being of Francophone and bilingual communities. It supports language transmission, showcases cultural heritage, and creates welcoming spaces where residents can come together, celebrate, and collectively build the future. We wish to highlight the commitment and support of the provincial government. The success of these projects also depends on close collaboration among the various orders of government, which is essential to developing sustainable infrastructure that is responsive to the realities of Francophone and bilingual communities. #MBilingualMuni #FrMB

Thanks to intergovernmental collaboration and support from the Manitoba Growth, Renewal and Opportunities (GRO) Program, the Rural Municipality of Sainte-Anne is receiving a $1.7‑million investment from the @MBGov to restore its fire service. This project strengthens critical emergency services, ensuring the safety of all residents and preparing the community to meet the needs of a growing population. The Rural Municipality of Sainte-Anne is a strong, safe, and bilingual community—a great place to live. Between 2016 and 2021, its population grew by 12%, far surpassing the provincial average of 5%. This growth represents both an opportunity for development and a call for adapted municipal planning. This investment helps support this expansion while ensuring reliable, essential services. By working hand in hand, municipal and provincial governments demonstrate that the safety and well‑being of residents come first—and that Sainte-Anne is ready for the future. bit.ly/4a2rtKj #MBilingualMuni #FrMB

On January 22, our bilingual advantage was fully showcased as the @AMBMGroup brought together municipal leaders, along with federal and provincial partners, to discuss the priorities of Manitoba’s bilingual and rural municipalities. A constructive discussion with @GinetteLavack, Member of Parliament for Saint‑Boniface–Saint‑Vital, highlighted the natural alignment between federal priorities and those of our municipalities. Roundtable discussions with the @NDPCaucus, including Minister @GleneSimard, as well as with the @MBPCcaucus, represented notably by @ObbyKhan60, enabled direct and candid conversations on key issues affecting bilingual municipalities. The @FCM_online also underscored the strengths and challenges of rural Canada, enriching the collective dialogue. Manitoba’s bilingual municipal leadership remains committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to advance municipal priorities and build strong, bilingual, and prosperous communities. #MBilingualMuni #FrMB
