Congratulations to the winners of the Cosmetology hairstyling competition in Carolyn McKillop’s class at #MillikenTech. First, second and third place winners are Gabriella Monjes Soto, @comsewoguehs; Denver Williams, @BayShoreSchools; and Paulina Leon Salas, @ConnetquotCSD.

Physical Therapy Aide students studied the respiratory system. They learned techniques to help post-operative patients who’ve undergone abdominal or open-heart surgery, and how to use an incentive spirometer, a device that helps those after surgery or a lung ailment diagnosis.

Bixhorn Tech held a college fair so students could speak with reps from private, state and technical colleges, and the military and state police. Many CTE students advance their education in their chosen fields, leveraging the head start their CTE training has provided.

Prepping, cooking, serving, customer interaction. These are just some of the tasks the Culinary Arts students in Eric Rickmers’ class tackle when they prepare and serve food to the #WardTech campus each week during customer service. #RestaurantExperience. #CareerBuilder

Congrats to the #BixhornTech students who competed in the Ready, Set, Lead Business Competition at @stjoesny. The competition challenged students to demonstrate their business skills through scenarios and topics ranging from sports marketing to entrepreneurship and design.

Auto Body students in Brian LaBarba’s class at #MillikenTech are repairing suspension components, installing bumper covers, re-aligning frames, and more. What they learn in class will prepare them for successful careers right out of high school. #MarketableSkills

The Cosmetology Program at #MillikenTech held its Afternoon of Beauty and raised $900 and non-perishable food items to benefit St. John Nepomucene, Bohemia. Students provided styling services, manicures, paraffin treatments and more for the price of a donation. #CommunityService

Dr. Ashley Caruana from Brookhaven Animal Shelter instructed students in Animal Science class at #WardTech on microchipping animals. A tiny electronic device containing a unique ID number linked to the owner's details was inserted under the skin.#CareerandCollegeReady

Maddie Stoddard, Academy alumnus from the #BixhornTech Personal Trainer Program, visited recently to speak to students. Stoddard now works at Redefine Fitness in Stony Brook and Mt. Sinai. She spoke to students about providing value to their clients and then shared training tips.

West Islip High's Daniel Kossman and Logan Coppola, #BixhornTech Carpentry students, begin a boat restoration internship at @LI_Maritime. Fusing craftsmanship and maritime history, they continue their #CollegeandCareerReady journey.

#BixhornTech students Angelina Bevilacqua (TV, Video and Digital Film Production) and Madison Wurtz (Professional Photography and Digital Imaging) are interning at @TownofIslip Office of Communications. They covered the 43rd Annual Apple Festival at Islip Grange in Sayville.

#MillikenTech Law Enforcement students became certified in CPR thanks to the @SCPDHq. Students practiced chest compressions and rescue breaths on manikins to gain hands-on experience. #CPRCertified

#BixhornTech students supported breast cancer research by offering pink hair extensions, tattoos, haircuts, paraffin treatments, facials, and selling pink baked goods & smoothies during #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #ThinkPink

Today, the LI Academy Cosmetology Program within the Brentwood UFSD held a breast cancer fundraiser. Students in Kenia Benjamin’s class offered hair and nails services for a donation, and sold baked goods as well.
