I just complained about the media demonizing the Covid cautious community, and now they've come to show it firsthand. Just yesterday, a media outlet published an article portraying the Covid cautious community as psychos living in the past. The article opened with: 'It's been over three years since the pandemic ended, yet there's still a group of people who take protective measures every day, even more strictly than before. In a world returning to normal, it's as if they alone are stuck in an abnormal past.' It mentioned a person (I strongly suspect they made him up) who tests himself daily with Covid antigen tests, lights moxa sticks every day, fills the entire room with thick smoke, waits for the smoke to settle, and then sprays alcohol everywhere. The article also described all sorts of extremely exaggerated, unscientific practices that no actual Covid cautious person would do. Any reader would come away thinking this person is mentally ill. This is the media's standard practice of demonizing the Covid cautious community on a daily basis. I looked into the company behind this media outlet — they have deep collaborations with The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. So I have no doubt that this is a globally coordinated effort. mp.weixin.qq.com/s/bHVXEa03TljY…

After going through COVID, I finally realized just how bad the media actually is. On one hand, they are easily bought and push the narrative demanded by their owners. On the other hand, the journalists themselves don't have much expertise in various fields, so they can't verify basic facts. Not long ago, Chinese state media interviewed a dermatologist, who claimed in the interview that masks are very limited in blocking tiny allergens. I refuted that claim on my own account, but my reach is nowhere near that of state media. As a result, a considerable number of people get misled like this every day. I have little to no trust in the media now. Two years ago, some media outlets wanted to interview people who insisted on wearing masks to protect against COVID. I was also invited. But because I don't trust the media, I declined the interview. However, some people did accept the interview, thinking that they would help spread awareness about the dangers of COVID to a wider audience. But, incredibly, the media portrayed those of us who wear masks as lunatics. They completely stigmatized this group using a sensationalist, exaggerated approach.

Did you know that, in the aftermath of the 1918 flu pandemic, deaths from cardiovascular diseases soared and continued to rise for over 40 years? From 1960 onwards, deaths from heart disease steadily declined as the younger age groups infected during the pandemic gradually died.

This phenomenon of delayed deaths from post-infection sequelae is not new. We also saw it following the 1918 flu pandemic, as this Australian data shows. Just as deaths from most other causes plummeted due to medical advances, deaths from heart disease exploded after 1918. 👇🏻

@1goodtern So many people getting sick multiple times within weeks of 'recovering' from the last 'illness' or prolonged sick leave ... evidence of so much brain damage ... feels like it's all falling apart and no one wants to hear why

I was supposed to attend a meeting with six people this afternoon. Three of them have been ill for a fortnight, one has been ill for three weeks, and one has just become ill. In their words: "wiped out" "flattened" "taking so long to get any better"

Women are out here sharing live locations, checking the backseats of cars, and holding their hands over their drinks. Men are doing 3 hour podcasts about how unfair it is that we don't smile at them. The disconnect is fatal.

6 years of living with the constant math:
Is this space safe?
Is this air clean?
Is this risk worth it? 6 years of watching caution get mocked,
science get diluted, preventable harm get normalized. I’m not tired of caring. I’m tired of being surrounded by people who don’t

"If repeat Covid infections were that dangerous, governments would act" The same govt's (and many doctors) who suppressed & ignored strong evidence of harm from cigarette smoking for decades in the 20th century, leading to 100 million deaths globally? 🚬

Is there anything more sad and unprofessional than doctors going online to bash patients. You think you're right but all you're doing is showing that you have zero awareness of how being educated + working in a system with many systemic issues has influenced your bias.

We’ve told Raed’s story before. A teenager in Gaza whose life changed in an instant. While collecting firewood for his family, he was directly targeted - left critically injured, losing both legs, one arm, and suffering severe nerve damage. Donate here: chuffed.org/project/136892… Today, Raed lives in constant physical and psychological pain under conditions no child should endure. What once were simple dreams are now replaced with daily survival. The Sameer Project has able to support him and his family with clothing, food, medication, and a tent, but this is not enough. Ongoing care, nourishment, and medical support depend on all of us continuing to show up. His mother is asking for compassion. For dignity. For a future for her son. Don’t let his story fade. Be his voice. Share. Speak. Stand with him. Donate to our Medical Campaign to allow us to care for Raed and other patients that need extra support: chuffed.org/project/136892… Other ways to donate include: paypal.me/mahertali (Paypal option, please make sure to add a message saying "Medical") account.venmo.com/u/Maher-Ali (Venmo option, please make sure to add a message saying "Medical")

Imagine a doctor refusing to diagnose you with a condition for which you have the symptoms, because the doctor believes the condition is rare, and therefore there's an imaginary quota on how many people are allowed be diagnosed with that, and you're not one of those people.

I just drove 1 mi. to the grocery store near my house. At the first light, a SUV made a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic. At the 2nd, a car flew through the red light, making no effort to slow down. Both near misses. Drivers are getting more and more reckless. And I know why
