@merrillmatter I think 2026 is a consolidation year for gold. Action will move to copper and platinum/ palladium in 2026. Is gold cheap still? Probably but the trade is less obvious than years ago when I got started. What is cheap now? The senior gold producers like Agnico.

Is Gold over or underpriced? Depends. I've been thinking about this after Gold's impressive return this year. In terms of only the US, maybe, globally, perhaps not.

@jameshenryand @MetalsCupani No doubt that metals in bullion form are more liquid than explorers. Munger taught us that money is made by holding (not buying, not selling). In the case of @MetalsCupani I am happy to hold the company instead of bullion.

We need to find more copper.... far more than people realize. When you add up current production plus every mine that might come online by 2050, the world is still staring at a 27Mt shortfall. To put that in perspective: - That’s 120% of today’s global copper supply - Needed in just 25 years - While a single new mine takes 20-25 years from discovery to production And demand is accelerating: - Grids - EVs - Transmission lines - Data centers - Emerging-market electrification Copper supply can’t keep up. This is one of the cleanest long-term setups in the entire commodity space.

A bit of chatter on Min Twit lately about the value of expertise...or more accurately how everyday investors can never hope to understand projects or potential like a pro. I could write a book. And one day maybe I will. Like the time a broker's "geological team" tried to talk me into selling Great Bear just over $2.00, because the Hinge Zone "didn't hold together." Or the time I had a $500,000 cup of coffee with a geologist friend (and not in a good way). Bottom line, junior mining is an amazingly inefficient sector, and that's a feature and not a bug. You can do the work, subscribe to the best newsletters, go to conferences and meet management teams and, yes, lean on others' expertise. You can do all this and find tremendous values and opportunities that the market doesn't yet recognize. It's exciting. It's fun. And it can be amazingly profitable, especially in a market like this one. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it.

@vitaliyk Copper and graphite are also a supply chain crisis. Both will get worse before they get better. I have been prepping for years!

By the way, we should do the same thing with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The US needs a Manhattan-type project for (not so) rare earth minerals. We have plenty of them. We just need the government to exercise eminent domain, override objections from environmental groups, and start mining and refining them. If our lives depend on it—and they do—we can get it done in months. Treat it as a national emergency.
