@NataniaMarshall Isn’t usually one a giver and another is a taker? One falls into a more dominate role while the other more submissive? Isnt what this behaviour is signaling?

Dads with young kids
Is it normal to just feel tired and burnt out all the time?
It’s like you don’t even really get the weekend to recover because it’s all just kid stuff the moment you wake up
Arguably the only personal time you have is when they nap (and you’re already dead tired by that time) or the hour after they go to bed but before you pass out
Just trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong

@qsfkbwIhuWLhnjI So what happens next? Wait for random cop car to drive past?

@PoetGooner @apinions_ “Thai-ness is like 90% behaviour based” - interesting insight!
English

Thailand is arguably a major success case of assimilation. Nobody cares or asks about your Mon, Laos, or Khmer ancestry. However, Muslim Thai and Indian Thai are notable exceptions (บัง and แขก still being used quite widely, for example, but mostly by older generation, tbf), and inter-marriage by these two demographics are not as prevalent (for latter mainly a Sikh thing, perhaps?).
Chinese used to be the big question of the day (who can forget "Jews of the East" allegation! 😅) but is now almost completely Thai-lized, with the latest generation barely carrying on the Chinese culture, although Mandarin might make a come back given rise of China.
The fact that Thai-ness is like 90% behaviour based is probably a feature not a bug.
I'm not as aware of rising piety in Indonesia and Malaysia as I travel more to Vietnam nowadays, but that may indeed be an interesting variable.
English

Thailand should not import culture wars willy-nilly from Western countries but growing Muslim population share and growing piety in Indonesia and Malaysia will further complicate the Muslim assimilation debate here.
This is why Thailand’s conservative shift will prove more permanent than many expect.
