The Texas legislature rammed through a gerrymandering bill at the request of Trump. Virginia actually voted in favor of redistricting to counterbalance what Texas and other Republican-controlled states have done. Yet only one is considered a "power grab." Oligarch-owned media in a nutshell.

@DougWahl1 Because existing VA law said that districting was to be performed by a non-partisan commission. This redistricting plan would override the LAW for, wait for it, this single voting cycle. Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out why.

Remember when Democrats proposed a bill that would have required states to use independent, nonpartisan redistricting commissions to draw congressional district maps? It was rejected by Republicans because they want to cheat.
