My friend in Hylia, it's a game. I don't think the devs meant any malice by their creation. Hylians were just meant to be a straight up interpretation on medieval Europeans, complete with Knights/castles and princesses. The Gerudo are inspired by desert warrior tropes from ancient Arabia/Middle East (scimitars, veils, nomadic desert life, the whole exotic "other" aesthetic that tons of old stories used). They were just mirroring real world medieval dynamics. All told/seen thru the lens of Japanese storytelling looking from the outside in. Taking inspiration from real historical things like medieval Europe clashing with Asian/Arabian powers during crusades, trade wars, or whatever in the past. But that's literally how fantasy has worked forever. Contrasting cultures clashing for drama. Think Lord of the Rings with Gondor vs. distant empires, or every RPG ever. They also use similar tropes that mirror our real world.

The Vanguard Charge ability in #MassEffect (coupled with the shotgun) is still one of the best gameplay mechanics in a video game.

No - they still valued intellect, science and the cohesion of society and its progress. It wasn't "strength good, everything else bad", it was "through strength, utopia". You'd only think what you think if you've been taught to demonise strength.

Viltrumites as a society as advanced as they are makes no sense, it would if they were more medieval like and only have advantages because of their powers. Kryptonians are so advanced because they aren't born with theirs on their planet so they had to adapt and value other things than strength.

@FAB87F "Live press conference" - it was a virtual press conference and nobody saw him in person.

@KC_GT_ Absolutely crazy when you discover someone has done something and you think, "how hasn't anyone done this before?" Incredible work.

So, we all know about how pixel art designed for CRTs loses its luster on digital screens. There are plenty of impressive filters and shaders out there that recreate authentic pixel art, but do they capture the feeling of sitting so close to a vintage TV that you can hear the cathode rays bouncing around in your skull? As an exercise, I decided to recreate a CRT screen in Blender as simply as possible. Once it was put together, I started playing around with it trying to find potential practical uses. It turns out, when you point a weirdly-angled fake camera at a fake screen and render it in a ray-tracing engine with depth of field, you get really, really good looking pixel art. So, I set out to make a convincing and easy to work with digital screen material, and I ended up with a potentially really useful rendering tool for not just pixel artists, but any designer with an insatiable hunger for cassette futurism (hello!) It's also simple enough to work with that anyone with an instruction manual should be able to leverage its full potential regardless of Blender experience. If you're interested, stay tuned!

@solardivulger The take where the hat came off the head was clearly the best, funniest take - but the other scene was recorded with the hat staying on.

People saying "it's not reading your thoughts it's just predicting based on internet use" aren't actually giving you a truthful answer, they're merely, and meagerly, reinforcing their belief in materialism and scientism. The real answer? AI magic spirits. Only a few notice them.

I get how the phone can target ads by hearing and seeing me, but how is it showing me ads based on my thoughts? I can't be the only one noticing this.

@ChrisGwinnLA I don't think it's a problem with the model, I think it's a problem with who rated during the rating party. Clearly whoever voted did so towards a specific aesthetic, and whoever was around during the V7 rating party has apparently left already.

The lack of ambient sounds or persistent soundtrack is so unnerving in Invincible. Why's it always so quiet.

She has a lil bit of candida, probably some digestive issues after eating lunch/dinner and suffers from bloating after big meals. Fingers and toes might sometimes be cold. Goes to bed late often after midnight (probably) Don’t ask me how I can tell these things. One must be a foid whisperer in this cold, dark world…
