@malekanoms Why launch a L2 rollup instead of a custom L1 appchain on Cosmos or Avalanche?

I can't speak to the decision making process at Robinhood, but I think deploying your own L2 will almost always be more appealing to established enterprises than launching new products on an L1. Why? One word: control If you launch your own L2, you can control almost every aspect of the transaction lifecycle. Fees, block times, ordering, MEV mitigation, fork resolution, privacy, etc etc. The only parts beyond your control are proof and data, but those are wholesale markets. Whatever fees or frictions they impose can be abstracted away. Products on L1s on the other hand must cede almost all control. If the fees spike on the L1 for any reason, your users still pay more. If the block time is changed, so is your product UX. If sandwiching runs rampant, your users get victimized. If the chain goes down, your product no longer exists. My expectation remains the vast majority of enterprises with existing users will do this math and launch their own L2s. It's fun to speculate who might go next. To me, providing this type of market segmentation was always a clear advantage of the rollup-centric scaling approach.

When I started Pluralis I thought it was going to take 2-3 years and several papers to get to this point. I was considered borderline delusional to hold that view. Well: computational graph itself is split over nodes. Nodes are physically in different continents. 8B model. No degradation compared to the datacenter case. No slowdown. Scalable - we can train very large models in this way.
