many people, and especially so many young people, are ill? The 'mental health plague' in capitalist societies would suggest that, instead of being the only social system that works, capitalism is inherently disfunctional, and that the cost of it appearing to work is very high"2/2

@ideanoc17 It might be one of the ugliest in London (probably because it serves the North - there be dragons and all that) but I can assure you it’s luxurious compared to Moston station in the early 1990s. Euston even has some nice design features inside, if you look hard enough.

Depressing part of growing older in a collapsing imperial gerontocracy (among many) is not only have I heard all these bullshit justifications for war before but I've literally heard them from the same people

Michael Parenti understood something about imperialism that escapes a lot of more conventional academic analysis: the principles of running an empire are the same principles underpinning organized crime networks. That’s why he called the empire “the gangster state.” /1

Yvette Cooper is asked why she banned Palestine Action "I followed the clear advice.. which was very clear about the recommendation for proscription of this group.. you have to take really seriously advice you are given.." This is clearly the line she's going with.

@L__Macfarlane People may as well believe in the Loch Ness Monster if they think the media’s basic duty is to speak truth to power. They are owned by the powerful and will continue to protect them at all costs.

The Epstein files offer a rare look at how power actually operates in the world. They also expose how thoroughly our media has failed at its most basic duty: speaking truth to power.

@idriveaclassic Looked good, especially with four headlamps. My dad had a brown 1.7HL as a company car. A big upgrade on the previous orange Allegro! Was great at first but remember screeching belts, suspension and steering issues and it rusted through in places within just 4 years.
