IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Last week, the Auditor General reported on the mismanaged and uncontrolled international student program overseen by this Liberal government and Lena Diab, the Immigration Minister who has failed Canadians and failed to fix our system. Although the government promised Canadians they were reducing the number of foreign students, they have been extending study permits at record rates. At the same time, they blatantly ignored to follow up on 800 cases where fraudulent documentation was used to gain entry to Canada. Some of these students, who lied to enter our country, were later approved for other permits, including for permanent residence. For some, they have stayed in Canada even after their permits expired. The Auditor General also found that the Immigration department did not investigate the majority of students who were flagged for not complying with their immigration permit restrictions. Up to as many as 10,000 students did not have up to date or accurate compliance information on their files with IRCC. Conservatives have continued to call on the Liberal government to fix our broken immigration system for years, and it is clear from this report that they are failing to do even the bare minimum at IRCC. It is time to fire Lena Diab as Immigration Minister, develop programs and incentives for Canadian businesses to hire Canadian workers instead of foreign workers, and abolish the TFW program itself which has taken a toll on our youth trying to find jobs.
