@Qiqi7877 @SprinterPress Best explanation I've ever seen.

While Xi Jinping was sitting across from Trump in Beijing telling him that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons and must not blockade the Strait of Hormuz, Iran just appointed Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf — one of their most powerful figures — as special representative to China with even broader powers to “further strengthen the strategic alliance.”
My take:
This is textbook CCP two-faced diplomacy.
Xi says whatever Trump wants to hear to the face, then quietly keeps deepening the “no-limits partnership” with Tehran behind the scenes.
Iran and China can absolutely still be “good friends” — as long as it serves Beijing’s interests. Loyalty and principles have never mattered to the CCP. Only power and convenience do.
Classic Beijing. They play both sides until the very end.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been appointed as Iran's special representative for China
The decision was made at the suggestion of the Iranian President and approved by the Supreme Leader.
⚪️ It is reported that Ghalibaf's powers in this area will be broader than those of previous representatives. Previously, similar tasks in the Chinese direction were carried out by Shahid Ali Larijani and Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli.
Ghalibaf's appointment demonstrates the further strengthening of the strategic alliance between Iran and China amid growing Western pressure and the formation of a new multipolar world.

Mushfiqur Rahim never announced he was great. He just stayed long enough that the numbers had to admit it for him.
21 years since that 18 year old walked out at Lord's in 2005. A boy from Bogra with ears too big for his head & hands too small for the gloves they gave him. English press wrote polite things. Bangladesh press wrote hopeful things. Nobody wrote that he would still be here in 2026. That would have sounded like a joke.
Rahim just kept turning up. Just pads on, gloves sometimes on & another innings in the middle of another Bangladesh collapse.
A wicketkeeper's hands are ruined hands. Mushfiqur's fingers look like a farmer's. Like a man who has pulled rope for 20+ years. In a way, he has. Rope is the expectation of a country that had no Test history before him. No 5,000 runs, no 6,000, no double hundreds, no 100 Tests. He made all of these numbers because nobody else would stay long enough to make them.
Number 5 is where he lives now. Nearly 3000 runs from that position at 48 average. 7 of his 13 Test hundreds were made there, rescuing innings that should have ended before tea. But 6 other centuries came from somewhere else. Number 4, number 6, number 7. Someone kept shifting his bed to a different room every night & he kept sleeping just fine.
Since 2020, he averages 48.4 in Test cricket. Only 4 batters in the entire world have made more runs this decade while holding a better average. He plays for Bangladesh, where openers usually fall over before he has even strapped his pads. At an age when most players should open academies beside highways, Rahim is statistically among the 5 best Test batters of the 2020s.
6 of his 13 Test centuries came after he turned 35. He averages nearly 50 since that birthday. He also has 2 Test double hundreds as a designated wicketkeeper. No one in history has done that twice. For most of his life he did the most brutal job, keeping wicket through 150 overs in Chittagong heat, then walking out to bat at 40 for 3.
If he had been born in London, we might call him the modern great. He will never get the big franchise money or the global covers. But for two decades he has carried a nation's batting order on shoulders that barely reach his teammates chins. From the Habibul Bashar era to Ashraful era to Tamim & Shakib & now to Shanto era, he has been the one constant. Not the most talented, just the one who refused to leave.
