I’m trying to understand the tariff refund thing. Companies raised their prices to consumers in light of the tariff charges. But now those tariffs are getting refunded. So those companies will just have wound up making way more money on the backs of everyday people.

No live-action feature since 22 Jump Street in 2014. Every studio passed. Their comeback is an original sci-fi with a $200M budget that every executive said couldn't work. It just beat the most hyped franchise sequel of the decade and is tracking past $650M worldwide. The $3M gap over Dune 2 is the least interesting number here. Dune 2 opened at $82.5M and dropped 44% its second weekend. PHM opened at $80.6M and dropped 32%. That's the entire story. Dune 2 had an audience that showed up opening weekend because they'd already committed to the franchise. PHM had no audience on day one. It built one over 30 days because people walked out and texted friends. A 95% RT original with an A CinemaScore compounds. Franchise sequels front-load and bleed. When the movie is actually good, an original story will out-leg any franchise on the calendar.

@polarbearquad eh depends.... the way the isu is rewarding tech with pcs (which defeats the point of pcs) maybe, but quints are not worth that many points compared to the gap between triples to quads (any quint jump is worth 15—compare that to 4lz at 11.5 and 3lz at 5.9)

if someone sucessfully learn to do quint and do it in comps, does that mean that skater is practically unbeatable because the technical score would be so high, and even with perfect pcs it would never be enough for other skater without quint to close the gap?
