@jackhodgson They are making progress. Barrier islands have had catastrophic damage, as would be expected from the storm surge created by a massive hurricane such as Ian. And mobile homes, RVs, frankly anything near a major body of water has damage. Other places are ok. Recovering.

Hearing occasional snippets from my friends in Tampa-Fort Meyers, Florida. Power and landline internet seem near universally out. Cell phone and cell internet are very spotty, but that it's working at all is a big congrats to the cellphone folks.

Grandstand all you want. Fine. But to use human beings as pawns is despicable. These are people folks. People. Human beings. There but for the grace of God…

Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott. I’ve heard people say they like these guys because they are tough and they don’t care about political correctness. These men are bullies. These men are in the stunt business. This is not leadership.

An email making the rounds with observations about the craziness of these altered-reality times we're in. My favorite: "This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot."

I inadvertently left a couple slices of bread on my counter for the two weeks I was away. I return to fine zero visible mold on the bread. What the heck is in modern bread that it doesn't go moldy?
