Huge congrats to Anada, Ilya, and the @boldvoiceapp team on their $21M Series A!! Most of the AI narrative today is focused on automation and replacement, but BoldVoice is doing the opposite. They’ve built a platform that helps non-native English speakers communicate with more confidence and clarity. The reality is that accent bias has a massive, measurable impact on careers and earnings. By putting a personalized coach in someone’s pocket for a fraction of the cost of a human tutor, BoldVoice is leveling the playing field for millions of people. This feels like another great example of the "10x human" theory. Boldvoice found a way to make you 10x better at what you already do. It's great to see more teams using AI as a force for positive change to help people reach their full potential. If you’re building a mission-driven startup using AI to empower individuals and solve real-world challenges, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s chat.

Congrats to the team at @boldvoiceapp on the $21M Series A! BoldVoice is an AI voice coach that helps non-native English speakers sound clearer and more confident by giving precise, real-time pronunciation feedback as they speak. inc.com/maria-jose-gut…

Nothing erodes trust more than missing your own deadlines. If you told someone you'll do x by y date, and you just missed that deadline with no communication, you lose 90% of their trust automatically. Keep your promises.

1. One day I got an Instagram ad for an "AI accent training app" 2. Its "AI Oracle" correctly guessed that I'm Korean 3. So, naturally, I tried it and wrote about it My new @WIRED essay on AI & English accents

I sound Korean—because I am Korean. Can AI make me sound American? wired.com/story/ai-ameri…

Today was my 48th day of daily practice with @boldvoiceapp and this app is awesome. English is my second language and pronunciation was and still is my core insecurity. What stands out is how they integrated AI in giving me feedback down to every vowel and consonant, and being able to compare my recordings to the coach’s voice is incredibly useful. They also put real humans, accent coaches, in front of you for micro lessons and all key interactions and this is so good! Listening daily to Ron and Elisa is a treat. Great job @AnadaLakra If you're ever raising, I'd love to hear about it.

Today after 12+ years at Y Combinator I’ll be transitioning to a Partner Emeritus position. This role allows me to continue to do office hours with the 1000+ companies I’ve worked with in the past decade while giving me the free time to explore new adventures. It also means that the w25 batch was my last batch funding new YC companies. The next adventure I’m excited to pursue (after taking the summer to relax) is how I can help government better serve its citizens. Thank you to the countless friends who have been pushing me in this direction for years. Government was the passion of my youth and I’m excited to reengage. Thank you to @ycombinator @paulg and @jesslivingston for changing my life.
