Anyone who thinks that the property tax is wonderful AFTER YOU HAVE PAID THE LOANS OFF, is a retard! You should not have to pay RENT to the government forever. You should be able to actually own your house and cars.
SJRS@SJRS7

@ChrisMartzWX Property tax is wonderful. Income tax gets taken out before you see it and people don’t feel it. Property tax is variable based on your choice as to how much property you own and you see it in a more real way than you do income or sales tax. That is good.

@drethelin Jit payments on due date saves pennies each payment each month which rapidly get wiped out if there’s ever a minor hiccup in automation or the account ever gets locked even briefly. Not worth the hassle.

The economic incidence of payroll/self-employment taxes varies by income and market. The people who get the largest benefits later have the lowest tax incidence and the people getting the lowest benefits later have the highest incidence.

@michblueeyes @ChrisMartzWX How about we take schools private so we can pay 1/10th and improve our education. Then we can pay for the basic services that are essential. But the taxpayers need to have a direct seat at the table with caps. No more pensions. They can open their open defined plans.

Can anyone explain to me why we have to continue to pay property taxes on our land and motor vehicles AFTER we have paid them off? As far as I’m concerned, it is indefensible because it is theft.

@ChrisMartzWX Income tax punishes people for working. Consumption tax punishes them for trading. Property tax punishes them for having. The only morally consistent anti-tax position is opposing it all.

Paying taxes on income is dumb. There is absolutely no justification for punishing people for working and being productive members of society. But of course, the pro-tax turd nibblers will reply with the usual deflection, “But muh, what about government programs and services?” I don’t care. ✋ For one, the vast majority of government programs and services are inefficient. Second, the only things that the government should provide are the most basic functions and services: law enforcement, the courts, and national defense. That’s about it. To fund those things would require some revenue sources. That is, taxes. But taxes should only be consumption-based. The more you buy, the more tax you pay. There should be a national sales tax on all items that are not needed to live. Food (not including junk food), clothing (basics), medical supplies and medications, basic home appliances, and petroleum should be exempt. If you are unwilling to compromise and insist that there must be an income tax, then the alternative proposal is a flat tax such that everyone has the same percentage of their income withheld for said taxes, regardless of income brackets. Any other opinion on this issue is wrong. We are overtaxed, over regulated, and the government wastes our tax dollars.

@HeroDividend Nah mate. You are wrong on this one. Great if you can order your car online, but why do Amazon need to get in the middle of it. If you know you want a ford, order from ford otherwise someone is taking a cut and what value do they add?

@AndriaDont99498 @VillainessEve The people who will get paid more because you, and people like you, aren't willing to work (well enough) for less in such a "necessary" job that your employers will be forced to pay more. But your job is likely not as skilled as you think so plenty of people will work for less.

I make $14 an hour in healthcare.... I did the right thing. I went to school. Paid for it out right. Worked hard. I have a second job. And I'm furthering my education while I work to make more money. My job isn't considered entry level. I'm below the poverty line. I recieve no assistance. But please. Tell me how poor people are just lazy and leeching. I'm a registered republican btw.

@sprachspiele @LVTYIMBY ?? I thought the argument was that taxing improvements, sales, income, payroll, etc inefficiently changes how resources are used, that an LVT naturally "reverts" those changes.

@AnalyticD @LVTYIMBY Ok. Though I should point out, the whole rationale behind an LVT is it's supposed to be as close as possible to a pure transfer, and not change how resources are used.

@AlmostArchitekt Parts of Switzerland. Spain has rules against setting the air conditioning too low. UK will, reportedly, take away the rebates for heat pumps if they have cooling capability.

Obvious self-owns by Europe: 1) shutting down nuclear power. (Germany especially) 2) banning frakking, but still reliant on coal and Russian natural gas (bunch of countries) 3) banning or shunning air conditioning 4) Banning GMOs. All these do is make the average European poorer

@SummerHartxxx You could've stopped at "choosing" because every single person who actually would make a good parent and wants to have children and would make such an amazing generation knows it is more irresponsible and inhumane to make someone else deal with a world we can't prepare them for.

People are talking about the "declining fertility rate". Im someone who wanted to have children but Im choosing not to bc: -we are hurdling ever faster towards climate disaster with no mitigation -No universal healthcare in my country, meaning even a normal birth will cost me upwards of 13k. Let alone if my child has any special needs or I am harmed by the pregnancy. -I don't believe I am able to provide for them to adulthood as everything increases in a way that outmatches pay, especially college -The cost of daycare is staggering, meaning we'd need to either figure out how to pay it or one of us quit working in an economy where workers are squeezed -Many states have turned towards criminalizing pregnancy outcomes -Constant wars, government instability, economic instability, never ending gun violence. -Massive poverty and inequity in the US. Millions of people already born who we discard like trash and leave to sleep on the street in the "richest country in the world" Why would I bring more people into this?
Anthony Pompliano 🌪@APompliano

The US fertility rate has hit an all-time low. This is going to be disastrous. Do your part and have more babies!
